I just wish they would come out and show exactly what the breakdown would be for each $10,000 of income. I am sure some people would make out and some would lose out. SHOW US THE NUMBERS. Don’t get me wrong I support Cain 100% but I want to be sure people on social security would not be penalized.

Why not just link to the article in Human Events rather than linking to a blog that selectively quotes and links to the actual article?

Godfather of Supply-Side Economics Supports Cain's '9-9-9' Plan

It's really not that hard.

There's no question it would work well. The problem is instituting a sales tax and worrying that Democrats will get control of the Congress at some point. They can't prevent it being increased by some 2/3 requirement--that too can be amended. It would take a Constitutional amendment to prevent legislative tinkering. Good luck with that.

So, it's risky. I like the part about wiping out the IR Code, but maybe instead of a sales tax, get the revenue from a higher income tax and corporate tax--11 or 12 or even 14 and no sales tax.

No wonder the Debtocrats don’t like Cain’s 9-9-9 Tax EVERYBODY Plan!

I might support a 9-9 plan, without the income tax.

But it is crazy to just create a new additional tax while keeping the old taxes.

I remember when the Prohibition came along and the government said that they would replace the Whiskey tax with the income tax. Now we have both the whiskey tax and the income tax.

I also remember when the state and locals said they would replace our property taxes with sales taxes, now we have both property taxes and sales taxes.

Then the states said they would replace the sales tax with an income tax, now we have all 3, a state sales tax ,
a state property tax, and a state income tax. Additionally, some cities also have additional taxes.

From now on, no more new taxes until you permanently get rid of the old ones.

Arguably, the lowest income tax rate is 10%. The payroll tax rate is 7.65% for employees, and 15.3% for the self-employed.

So (again arguably) the lowest tax rate is 17.65% (25.3% for the self-employed). That 17.65% is the federal tax people currently pay on every dollar they spend on food and other essentials (i.e., rent, etc.).

Under 9-9-9, 18% would be the lowest tax rate on spent money. This would be paid on food and other essentials.

The big losers would be those who earn so little they don’t pay the 10% income tax and only pay the 7.65% payroll tax. The big winners will be the self-employed.

It reduces the productive wedge holding our economy down. We’ll see 4-6% growth for decades.

There are only two types of politicians: Income Growth or Income Redistributive.

Cain is income growth all the way.

Laffer is an intellectual “big gun”.

This is very good for Cain.

I’m surprised he would support it, since it includes a sales tax and an income tax.
