ROMNEY-CHRISTY 2012 (Where do Conservatives go from Here?)
self | 10/13/2011 | broken_arrow1

The dust is beginning to settle; the fix is in on the likely 2012 GOP candidate, and Mitt Romney is looking more-and-more likely-than-not to win the GOP Presidential nomination. I can see the establishment Republican leadership vying to get a Cain, Bachmann, or Rubio as a VP candidate to placate Tea Party support. As a Tea Party supporter, I perceive the likely appearance of a third party TEA PARTY candidate, Ron Paul or onother; which would almost ensure the re-election of Obama through Ross Perot-effect, and the end-game fundamental transformation of our Constitutionally-driven American Republic to a Socialist nightmare through unconstitutional Executive Orders and eventual turn over of the 5-4 makeup of the Supreme Court if nothing else. Even if the Republicans win a majority in the Senate, the RINOs would vote for any liberal Supreme Court justice Obama would nominate, which means the end of our Second Amendment rights, cement ObamaCare, punative taxes on the rich, Crony Capitalism (i.e., Fascism), Kenysian Debt destruction, etc. I WILL NOT vote for a progressive Romney-other ticket, as that is a re-wind to 2008 McCain-Palin ticket and the slow-boil progressive-lite RINO destruction of America versus Obama Cloward-Piven M.A.D. Stick a fork in us FReepers, because we are done!

Romney has historically supported: RomneyCare, Abortion, TARP, Gay Marriage, Carbon Taxes (AGW Global Warming). He stated in the Dartmouth debate that he thought an ecomomic collapse of the dollar or Euro was a hypothetical, and he doesn't talk in hypotheticals. Now he want you to believe he is a conservate because of what he says in the debates. Just watch the sickening 2010 re-runs of John McCain lie and talk it up like a conservative as he vied for re-election for his AZ Senate seat, only to slip back to his disgusting self after locking in 2010 nomination. Politicians lie until they get elected.

I just pray I have choice by the time the Texas Primary rolls around.

Our current primary system really sucks. ..for Texas anyway.

Ignore the media, show up en-masse and keep pulling the lever for Herman Cain. And let the establishment start soiling their BVD’s after he wins a couple of big primaries.

Stick a fork in that defeatism!

There hasn't even been a single primary yet. Drink your beer, stop crying in it prematurely.

I hope you are wrong.

I fear you are right.

The media and the Democrats will have a field day if the Republicans nominate the white guy who imposed a health care plan on his state to run against the black guy who imposed a very similar plan on the nation.

I will do what I can to prevent this outcome. But if it happens I will take comfort in my faith and my family. I also think this could be what was predicted for the end of days. I’m serious.

Most part... I disagree with your take... Romney is NO McCain. And a Romney win would mean a Senate win as the winds will carry us in that direction as we all know its a INDEPENDENT majority that elects these Presidents. Last time they were with Obama and now we have them handily. Do NOT muck this up! Drop all the RHINO b.s. people. We are a nation of many ideas. Not a one minded nation as so many here keep trying to force. A mostly conservative Congress, a mainly conservative Senate, a moderately conservative President and a conservative tilt on the Supreme Court all equals SUCCESS! 2012 is looking HISTORIC...!

A politician is anyone whose word cannot be trusted. LBJ: “We want no wider War.” GHWB: “Read my lips. no new taxes.”

I wish Palin would step in and tell the rino establishment to cut it out. She may be working on this behind the scenes, but if she doesn’t get anywhere she should go public and threaten to suppport a 3rd party movement. Elections are not won by money alone.

I don't think Gov. Christie is going to be the VP pick. His entire justification for not running for president was that he loves his job in NJ, and that he would be betraying the people of New Jersey if he didn't stay and finish the job here. On top of that, he has said repeatedly he's not a second-banana sort of guy.

As for Romney, if the Tea Party sticks with Mr. 9-9-9, we will end up with Romney. The options are not great. Perry is a real dud. That's why Newt is suddenly rising in the polls. Newt or Santorum seem like the only options left, or else we end up with Romney.

No need to post their flaws--I know them by heart. It's not my fault these are the choices. But there they are.

I don’t know how much different this would be than running John McCain/Sarah Palin the last time. I’m sure that Obama’s people would think that any ticket headed by Mitt Romney (with any Tea Party conservative as VP) would be just as “beat-able”.

Of course the election dynamic is different this time around. Obama is the perceived ‘loser’ and will be defeated. What worries me is that with Romney in the WH, nothing much will change.

What a whiney, thumb sucking, pessimistic view!

Romney? The guy who has been campaigning for 4+ years? The guy who can't break 30% in any National poll? The guy who has wasted millions of dollar in Iowa only to be the third or fourth choice in that State?

That Romney?

He's the one looking "more-and-more likely-than-not" to win the nomination?

He is polling behind a guy who 2 months ago was stuck in single digits! He has more money, more organization, and more endorsements than anyone else in the race. Besides Palin, he has more name recognition this cycle than anyone else considered. And what has his reception been?

"Eh" and a shrug.

He is a known quantity and 70%+ of Republicans have dismissed him.

This is the guy you are whining and bitching about?

Grow a set of balls and man up!

What do we do now?

VOTE VOTE VOTE VOTE!

EVERYBODY HAS GOT TO VOTE IN THE PRIMARIES!!!! That’s it. Though Ron Paul is more fiscally conservative - he’s not so good with foreign policy, borders etc... I was personally throwing money at Perry, but I fear the left & MSM has succeeded in thouroughly trashing him because he is a crappy debater. I sincerely believe Perry is the best choice for us. As an administrator and uniter.

I don’t give a rats ass about Perry sucking at a debate. Seriously. I want someone like him running the show. He’s done a damn good job in Texas.

If we all get out there - we can stop a Romney ticket from winning the nomination.

I have said that I would vote for whomever is the nominee BUT; I was assuming that Myth knew that the base pretty much wavers between distrust and hatred of him and would pick a conservative VP in order to balance the ticket. If he picked another NE liberal to run with him that shows that he believes his own bullsquat.

Not sure that’s a vote I can cast.
