Cain has indicated that a provision of the plan, required for its passing is that it would take a 2/3rds vote of congress to raise any of the rates.

We do not have that now.

While it is true a new sales tax is added federally, Cain takes away two taxes while doing so. No more inheritance tax, and no more capital gains tax.

As to the arguement that government can simply grow the tax...two things. Government can grow the current tax, and it is much higher, 2nd, as stated, it would require a 2/3rds vote to do so.

Finally, Cain has also indicated that the sales tax is only on "new" items. Used item sales would be exempt.

IMHO, Herman Cain has the right attitude and message for renewal and restoration of America, her strength, her economy, and much, much closer adherance to and reverence for her constitution.

With the endorsement yesterday of Art Laffer, for Cain's 9-9-9 plan (Laffer is recognized as one of the brain child's of supply side economics), his momentum continues to rise.

Could you show me that on his plan listed on his website? I don’t see it there.

A sales tax happens every day that you purchase something, anything, including gas, food, etc. You get an inheritance once or twice in a lifetime. You sell a house maybe a few times at most in life, if that. Only fairly well off folks are buying and selling stocks to benefit from the capital gains tax being removed, and that too is not an everyday thing that one is buying/selling stocks. Meanwhile, day after day after day you are hit with the sales tax on everything you purchase, and at any time some future Congress can raise the percentage whenever they get the urge for more money. No thanks. Bad deal, especially for the lower to middle class.

I don’t understand how Congress (a simple majority) can have the power to prevent a future Congress from repealing a law, or passing a modification of an old law.

If this were possible, why wouldn’t the Dems have done this with Obamacare?

I’m a Cain supporter, and think the 999 plan is a good start, but I think this would require a Constitutional amendment. A 999 law could include a provision that it takes effect upon ratification of a new amendment.

Don't forget that Cain's plan also eliminates the payroll tax (15% for employee/employer share).
