FReepers and a minority of the population follow the news via “new media” & msm. The rest of the population doesn’t seek out news and gets their minuscule news bites from msm.

If it isn’t reported on the nightly news, it doesn’t exist. If they happen to hear about something via another source, it’s in passing & it isn’t pursued

Interesting. Wondering why the personnel at my wifes office are abuzz with topics of “Gunwalker”, and “Iranian Assassin” stories, and updates often when she is the only person of the approximately 45 in her office who is a Freeper. Unfortunately the company she works for has FR blocked from access as a “Hate Site”, because of course the Left has told them FR is, so I send her updates during the day via email on the really important items of interest.

It’s because they read the “New Media” like Dad used to read the newspaper in the morning before going to work. Many take their breaks, and hit Drudge for news updates throughout the day as well.

I think you have a misconception of the interest Americans have of news.
