'Insane' even by Illinois standards? Union official to get $500,000 in pensions

A labor leader in Chicago is expected to receive pension payments of nearly $500,000 a year, while another could get about $438,000 a year, according to reports Wednesday.

The Chicago Tribune and WGN-TV, which obtained information about union pension benefits during a joint investigation, said at least eight union officials in Chicago were eligible for what were described as inflated city pensions on top of union pensions for the same period of employment.

The news organizations said this was due to "a charitable interpretation" of Illinois law by officials representing two city pension funds.

"Can you name any place in the world where someone can get two pensions for the same job?" state Rep. Tom Cross, a Republican, told the paper. "Even by our standards here in Illinois, it's beyond belief. It's insane."

Chicago and Illinois are facing financial trouble, in part due to pension shortfalls.

I smell MAFIA. LIUNA was mobbed up by the Gambinos and Gottis from New York to Chicago to Las Vegas and down to Florida. They were the subject of a major Organized Crime Task Force investigation in the 1990’s which was led by the honorable USDA Mary Jo White. The 200+ item indictment for asset seizures was quashed by none other than Bill & Hillary’s favorite Att. Gen. Janet Reno who allowed the union to clean its own house under the guardianship of a govt approved overseer.

Just happens that LIUNA gave the Clintons and the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee and a few other related groups at least $10 MILLION in donations during that time.

DOES SOMETHING SMELL BAD TO YOU?

Key article appeared in the American Spectator, April 1994, by Byron York on this. Google it and weep.

Where are those N.Y. protesters on this and the clergyman Jeremiah Wright's 10,340-square-foot mansion valued at $1.6 million dollars?

Aren’t they proceeding with an attempt to recall the Governor in Wisconsin for opposing this union madness? I would think and hope that this will blow up in their face, but will it?

How much you want to bet if one researched the union leadership in Wisconsin they could find similar “labor leadership” there. Pulling down a government salary while working full time for the union is quite a scam.

He worked at a $15,000 per year job and gets a $60,000 per year pension? Even California “only” pays you what you made in your last year. Who does this guy think he is, a San Diego lifeguard?

Illinois is imploding. Gov. Quinn had to borrow $3.5Billion to cover pension costs in Illinois. Mayor Rahm”TuTu” Emanuel is proposing higher taxes in the form of user fees to cover a chronic budget shortfall in Chicago. Oh, yes, property taxes in Cook County took a record hike this year. Keep those union thugs happy.

No matter how many taxes are imposed the budget deficits keep growing while
the economic base keeps shrinking..

The people that were supposed to look out for the common man’s interests were of course dependent upon union get out the vote efforts. The first government reform will have to be a third party taking over all labor negotiations. The current system is simply too corrupt.

Yes, and it is projected to cost in the millions $$$. Send a donation to Gov. Scott Walker's campaign, if you can. No amount is too small. Wisconsin Republicans have been hit again and again for donations for Scott's original campaign and all the recall campaigns, defending our Senators. Republicans are still in the majority and Walker is making great changes for the future, but we're running out of money.
