Objective for today.... learn how to spell CAIN
Sorry, but I am still nauseous over the “old white guys for Obama” bumperstickers I still see from time to time. I really hope we don’t go down that road if Cain gets the nod, joking or not.
It’s very easy to understand.
Way easier than our present tax code. Even attorneys and accountants don’t really understand it; its way too much!
“Great definition of a libertarian!”
Yeah, especially when you consider that it is funny because it has an element of truth to it.
>> Do the math and tell me it’s not a net benefit.
I have done the math. I have structured my affairs so I pay a little tax as possible — including *very* little payroll tax.
Cain’s fair tax is NOT a net benefit to me. It’s got populist appeal and little real benefit. By definition, if it’s *revenue neutral* it CANNOT — CANNOT — CANNOT be a net reduction in taxes! What is so hard to see about that? Plus a federal sales tax gives the feds ANOTHER HUGE tax to jack up into the stratosphere. Anyone who believes that consumption tax will ever *replace* income tax (rather than *supplement* income tax) is naive beyond belief.
I give Cain’s plan — in the unlikely event it gets traction — about two to three years until it morphs into a EU-style VAT.
Cain’s 9-9-9 plan is just political theater — a populist distraction from the real issue which is CUTTING SPENDING to the bone and ELIMINATING REGULATIONS!!!
Oh, and by the way: this 9-9-9 absolutely RAPES the agriculture segment of the economy. As you suggest, “do the math”.
Well my math puts a ton of money back in my pocket. Part of the program is cutting spending and regulations.
You’re getting bogged down in 9-9-9. He does have an agenda for everything else too.
>> He does have an agenda for everything else too.
Should he win the nomination, I’ll enthusiastically support him.
Amen to that!! We need to roll back the size and influence of the federal government and reduce its expenditures and need for revenue.
