I had a virus on this machine about 6 months ago. It disguised itself as McAfee somehow. I found it using task manager. It was actually a .exe running. Got the name, killed it and deleted the exe from the hard drive and did a restore from a prior date. I can’t remember the name but it was 3letters.exe.

This machine has had hardware issues. It has 2 hard drives. We weren't even finished switching them when the anti-virus started hanging up on start up.
Hubby is suspicious that it *may* have a virus issue as well. So I'd have both a hardware and a software issue.
