Fueled by Tea Party supporters, conservatives and high-interest GOP primary voters, former Godfather’s Pizza CEO Herman Cain now leads the race for the Republican presidential nomination, according to the latest NBC News/Wall Street Journal poll.

Cain checks in as the first choice of 27 percent of Republican voters in the poll, followed by former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney at 23 percent and Perry at 16 percent. After those three, it’s Texas Rep. Ron Paul at 11 percent, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich at 8 percent, Bachmann at 5 percent and former Utah Gov. Jon Huntsman at 3 percent.

Well, these posters scare the heck out of me....Cain is not Palin with some Executive experience, and last night praising Greenspan, and we know he supported TARP and people seem to have to clue how badly this 999 plan would hurt people on fixed incomes — like seniors.. the tax on their medications alone would probably keep them from taking their meds... and then add in a tax on food, etc... I can’t believe people are falling for a slogan... heck Huntsman was right, it is the price of a Pizza.

It’s a disaster for some. Not so much for others. It would hurt me, but at least for once every consumer has skin in the game. In order to raise the rates, that would affect all consumers and end the crap we see now. You gotta start somewhere.

And it's not just how bad it would hurt them. It's so UNFAIR. They already paid income tax, payroll tax, cap gains tax, dividends tax, gas tax, etc etc, and somehow managed to have something left, and now Cain and his moronic followers want to make them pony up some more! First another 9%, but if he has his way, another 33%!!!

Do you remember when the Tea Party stood for TAXED ENOUGH ALREADY? Now, it apparantly stands for TAX EVERYTHING ALREADY. It's beyond sad. It's grotesque and absurd.

You are absolutely correct.... but sadly the tea party appears to have morphed into something I do no recognize.

There is the rub. It would be major for those that worked by the rules then get whacked with a fed consumption tax. The tax code is a nightmare. It is probably way to late to get this off the ground as a viable plan but it would have worked in FDR’s days.

So you are comfortable with electing a man with a plan that would bankrupt most seniors who have paid a ton into the system already and most are not living on a shoestring. This is not thought out at all and his 33% plan is even worse... remember he is not doing away with the income tax, this is the camels nose under the tent and everyone is going along like sheep being led to the slaughter because the guy is a glib talker, I thought we learned our lesson from Obama, guess not.... we truly are a nation of sheep.

Most people would pay less in taxes under 9-9-9 and business hiring would boom.

I’m already paying over 33% and probably closer to 35% if I factored in “hidden” taxes, so I would benefit from 9-9-9.

I’ll defer to the guy with the Math and Physics degree on this one.

Besides, Cain is the only GOP candidate that will neutralize the “Race card” in the debates, and would also bring some of the Black vote over to the GOP

Instead of 98% of Blacks voting for Obama, maybe only 95% will, with the other 3% voting for Cain, which might be the difference. Remember 2000?

I’ve heard numbers as high as 33% of Blacks would vote Cain over Obama.

The most important part - the media won’t be able to claim that any of Cain’s criticism of Obama is “racist” either.

Why else do you think their heads are exploding and that they are in full attack mode?

Nominating Cain would neutralize the only card they have, possibly for for many years to come.

I even heard one lefty claim that Cain is responsible for Obesity in the US because of the companies he worked for.

I told him that BK has healthy menu choices, diet coke and that Godfather’s has veggie Pizza.

I also told him that it’s typical of a lefty to blame others for their obesity instead of themselves and the choices they are making.

No one is forcing them to eat at BK or to drink Coke.

Cain has a history of successfully turning around failures.
Hopefully, he can do the same with the US after Obama is done screwing it up.

Think of the POTUS job as being the CEO of the US:

Who would be more likely to bring this “company” back into the black? (no pun intended.)

So in other words, screw the people who are retired and payed all those taxes and more and have limited income... so when they go pick up a $500 heart drug at the pharmacy they will pay an additional $45 tax on that drug.... yep that really works! (not).... or 9% on their grocery bill when most can hardly afford to buy food as it is... when the seniors figure this out they are not going to support Cain... nor should they... this is a very dumb plan.

This plan completely erases the current code.

Cain, himself, said the 16th amendment stands and the income tax would not be immediately done away with.. and he is correct, there is no way it could be, so this is a VAT tax which MOST conservatives have always fought against... he did say this was a phase in to the Fair Tax, but he talks like he will be President forever and in fact we already know all it takes is a change in congress or a change in the holder of the office to screw the little people. Fact is seniors have paid all these taxes already, and Cain is not putting in any kind of exemption so they will be taxed on money they have already paid tax and they will pay taxes on things they can afford to pay taxes on but are in many cases life-saving.... people need to get their head out of the clouds.. the original Fair Tax (which this is not) was not what Cain is advocating, Cain’s plan sounds spiffy because the man is a smooth talker, but this is not a spiffy plan.. not even close.

Put 100% of the people on the gov’t hook and that power diminishes greatly from Washington. Maybe a senior scan card could exempt the national sales tax for seniors 45 and up.

It isn’t going to be easy but our current code is failing. I see the problem. Most of it in my opinion is to many freeloaders. I am welcome to hear any plan you may have.

If the 16th were abolished his plan is illegal. The 16th is here to stay. He wants skin in the game and no more under the table bullcrap.

It would eliminate free lunches for consumers that just ignore the system.

Even John Boehner said it best tonight to Greta. IF we were just starting then you probably could do something simple like 9-9-9, but you cannot because we are so into our current system...... Even if Cain is elected, 9-9-9 will never, ever see the light of day so people better step back and look at what they are doing!

Have you even gone to the fair tax website and plugged your situation into the calculator? You might be surprised.

You have gotten me all confused as only a woman can... First you tell me:

You’re tedious and boring. Please go away from me.

Then you come back with helpful advice:

Have a drink, if you smoke, spark up a stogey, and let your anxiety float out the window.

I understand that you have probably been through a lot in your life, and I am sorry about that. But I don't think that is a good excuse to try and bring everyone else around you down. You have only started posting the true crap over the last month or so. To me this is more a sign that you have become truly sad and are just out looking to mug some unsuspecting conservative.

If it's keeping you out of trouble at home maybe overall it is a good outlet for you. The problem is if I wanted to get depressed about things like our field of candidates. I would head over to DU. But I look forward to discussing conservative issues without stepping in your insulting, name calling sticky piles of poop.

So Sorry Sweetie, I am not going away and I am encouraging everyone to keep an eye on your posting history at:

http://www.freerepublic.com/tag/by:huck/index?tab=comments;brevity=full;options=no-change

where they will find highlights such as:

Bachmann is not going to be president.

Paul is a lunatic.

Perry is a dunce.

And the cult-of-personality types, including Palin’s fan base, have already fallen in puppy love with Cain.

Of course on the positive side is your love for Christy and I suppose Romney as well:

Everyone supporting this is leading the lambs to slaughter, nothing in DC ever stays static... we do not want to give congress a VAT no way, no how.... I don’t like Bachmann, but she was right about that last night.

Check it out for yourself. Plug in *your* situation. Don’t forget that retail prices will drop when corporate taxes drop. (The free market works)

I’ve been behind this plan for more than a decade.
