McALLEN A joint venture between the Mexican Army and the city of Reynosa has resulted in citizens turning in 23 firearms in exchange for food rations.
The program kicked off Monday morning as a way to get guns off the streets, with city officials inviting the public to visit either of the two trade centers and exchange weapons or ammunition for food.
The program is expected to run until 6 p.m. Friday, but on Tuesday alone, 11 rifles had been traded in, including a Tommy gun.
The exchange booths are at the March 21 Plaza in the Benito Juarez neighborhood and in the Benito Juarez Plaza in the Bellavista neighborhood.
We can only imagine where those guns end up after all the people go home and no one is looking. lol
Actually, those guns look like crap anyway. The guys collecting them may strip them for scrap metal and firewood. The Tommy will probably end up on ebay....
not a real tommy, those Kahr versions were jammo-matics and weighed about 12lbs as well.
Man,
I’d have bought loads of tortillas, rice and beans in trade for that tommy gun.
Of course, in my younger days, I prefer the old Model 1928...
that rock and rolled!
And I still like it...
today!
It is only logical to do so...
is that not correct, Doctor McCoy?
That looks more like a tommy sniper rifle!
I almost bought one thinking it would be a cool range toy, barrel is 18 1/2” versus 10.5 for a real one. after throwing it up to my shoulder just once I realized there was no way. A SBR version would be cool and weigh less, but would still have the unreliability problems.
“Thanks for the gun. Here’s your food ration.”
“Why thank you. I guess I’ll be on my way now.”
“Not so fast.” (Points gun) “I’ll take those food rations back please.”
“Darn!”
Hey, even toothless old men...
need love--
And they also need...
beer!
Damn, Valance! I keep shooting you dead...
and you keep on posting!

Who could give away a Chicago Typewriter??
that rock and rolled! Hate to disagree, odl man, but in my younger days...
I prefered the Sterling--
