Quick and dirty debate after-report: Perry Performance

To be fair, if you and I had to be up on stage with Charlie Rose and Karen Tumulty, we’d be soporifically stupefied after a few minutes, too. But then again, we’re not running for the highest office in the land and raising millions of dollars from people across the country who are counting on a candidate with the guts, gall, and gumption to take on Barack Obama. By those basic measures of fitness for office, Rick Perry once again failed to deliver. He was languid. Passive. Half-hearted. Listless. Just like he was during the 9/23 debate.

It is wonderful that we produce great soldiers and weapons in Texas. Of course that is great! That is not my point. My point was to list the 4 aces Perry inherited in Texas. That had more to do why Texas has done better.

There are only 2 candidates who would do well against the fast talking Barry O...Newt & Cain. Romney would also do OK, but his flip flops are legion. I am having trouble building trust in what he is saying now. He sounds like a born again conservative, but will turn on a dime if wind changes direction.

Bachmann would do great against Biden though. Recall how Palin destroyed Biden in 2008?

Agreed on Nader effect and Butterfly ballots in Florida.
My point is however, if Bush-43 would have flopped in debates, he loses in 2008.

So let’s bring back Warren Harding?

Well, now that you mention it the more I learn about Harding the better he sounds, it seems that he was a far better president than he ever got credit for being. He would certainly be an improvement over what we have now and probably better than what we are likely to get. I think I could go for another Eisenhower myself.

I have stated that I would rather Rick Perry remain governor of Texas.

I probably know more negative things about Rick than most. I grew up 15 miles from him (he is younger and I have never met him). But, none of the negative is anywhere close to the things I consider nonsense which are hammered here and other places about him.

He had made some bone headed calls. He is not the best debater.

But if you think the press is going to give a break to anyone right of center you are wrong.

Give the guy a break.

Hammer NittWitt Mitt Romney. He is far worse than anything you can say about Perry. Far worse.

Far worse to the point I refuse to vote for him under any circumstances.

I am an equal opportunity critic of all candidates. If you read all my posts you will find Perry is a close 2nd on my list mainly because Romney is so far back on my list. My 1st pick, Cain has drawbacks also, namely lack of big funds and his selection of Greenspan as the best chairman. Mine is Volcker. Again, Volcker was not perfect, just better than others.

Perry is not perfect but neither is any one else. Weighing the positives and negatives, Perry comes out on the positive side by far. My biggest concern with Perry is one on one debates with Obama. I was twisted in knots watching McCain-Obama debates. Don’t want to go through that again.

I was a delegate at the Texas Republican Convention when Rick ran for Governor for the first time on his own (without W). I voted for him then. And each election since.

I grew up in Haskell county like Rick. He is about 3 years younger than I am. I have never met Rick, but know both of his parents.

My ancestors and Rick’s ancestors have farmed in this county since the 1880’s.

They were all Democrats, as was Texas. People leaving the deep south because of the abuses of Reconstruction. Deep resentment to horribly corrupt government.

That all changed in the 1960-1970’s. By then the handwriting was on the wall. The Left controlled the Dem Party. Game over.

As a consequence, I have never voted for a Dem for national office. Never in my life.

On Rick’s behalf he did solidify that shift from Dem to Republican in Texas. (I was a Republican much much before him)

I think Perry would probably make a pretty good President and will without hesitation vote for him if he gets the nomination.

I WILL NEVER vote for Romney. Never Ever for anything.
