Yes, I’m noticing some people acting most strangely. That’s why I asked the questions of you. You don’t seem yourself. Are you alright ?

Gov. Perry needs to get on more talk shows and get his message out!

Then why do you keep hanging out on Perry threads?

LOL. I don't 'hang out' on Perry threads. I'm sure I don't post to even one in a hundred Perry articles on this site.

I was done talking when I made my first post, but people here refuse to just let me have my own opinion, and keep talking to me.

We get it. You don’t like him. Get over yourself

No, you don't get it. You've failed to observe that I'm simply responding to people posting to me. I said what I said, and was done, but the Perry people won't let it go. They simply must prove to me that I'm wrong.

Bingo! Its working for Cain. Old Herman has a cot set up at Fox News.

Perry needs to START making the rounds on talk shows. That is a good venue for the Governor.

I’m fine! I’m in Manhattan where I’ve been living it up with my sister and some close FRiends. Didn’t even see the latest debate. :-)

Because you’ve come to the opinion Perry isn’t conservative enough for ‘you’ means no one else can come to a different conclusion?

How is it that because I disagree, it somehow follows that I refuse to allow others their own viewpoints? Believe or conclude whatever you like.

I stated my opinion about Perry, and the Perry supporters keep beating me up about it. What's that say about them?

I rarely speak on the man, and don't go out of my way to haunt the Perry threads. I reserve the right, however, to state my opinion when I want to.

Rush should have come out more forcefully for Palin (not endorse her, but actually gone out of his way to state her positions), and possibly she might have had more incentive to get in.

Well, I would have liked to have seen him do that too, but that's just me being biased in favor of Palin. It's his show, and he can do what he wants. Some other so-called conservative talk show hosts have been down on Palin from the get-go. At least Rush gave her a fair shake.

As far as incentive goes, I don't think Sarah ever needed approval or encouragement from the media. She's a self starter, and was duty motivated to step up and do something to help steer this country back to sanity. I believe that she was on the cusp of stepping in, but something large stopped her from doing so. We'll probably never know why she really stepped aside, but in my opinion, it was a great loss for our country.

As you should. Now how about letting others do the same.

You've got it backwards. It's others who refuse to leave me be about my opinions of Perry. They won't let it rest.

If I recall Rush urged Perry to get into the race.

I remember that. He talked him up quite a bit before Perry stepped into the race. Certainly, Rush's statements encouraged Perry to run.

I don’t believe Rush has ever mentioned Perry’s stance on illegal amnesty via the Texas educational system that Perry created and called conservatives heartless.

I've never heard him mention it either. From what I can tell, Rush never did any real due diligence on Perry before he began talking him up. I've never heard him talk about his record in any great detail. Whatever. He's got the right to support whomever he wants for whatever reason. I don't have to agree with him, and he doesn't run my mind.

Now that's funny. You go to a pro-Perry thread and post about half the replies, with nothing constructive or instructive to say, just "Waaah! Illegal immigration! Waah! Gardisil! Not coservative! Ricarco! RINO!" etc., etc.

Hype much? Besides remarking that I don't think Perry's a conservative, I haven't said any of those other things on this thread.

Take a look at the thread again and see what actually happened. I stated my opinion of Perry, and several posters chimed in, berating me for it. They then took it upon themselves to beat me down with their pro-Perry talking points.

All I've done since, is respond to their posts. Now you're forcing me to respond to you. Want me to leave the room? Quit badgering my about my viewpoint.

Here’s what happened in 2007.

The court ruled that the State couldn’t finance schools with the current property tax, so 1/3 of property taxes went away. Businesses were added to the franchise tax that had previously been given waivers. The business or franchise tax was modified to exclude tax on the first $300,000 - I think that’s changed since.

Perry did average. There was absolutely nothing exciting that came out of his mouth.

This has me worried because right now he is the only real threat to Romney and I'm beginning to wonder if he has the "fire in the belly" to capture the nomination.

While I think these "debates" are stupid, nevertheless, if you are going to participate, you ought to come prepared to do what it takes to convince people that you really want the job and that you are the man for the job.

The more I look at this race, the more I see Romney as the eventual GOP Nominee. It is his race to lose at this point and I don't see anyone taking it from him at this point. Perry needs to step up his game or we need to look somewhere else. Gingrich has a lot of baggage, but then Mickey Mouse could probably defeat Obama in the General. Cain lacks any governmental executive experience, but he definitely has fire in the belly. Cain would win the general. Romney will probably lose the general for reasons I have set forth in other posts.

OK... With respect to the debates, they can often be nothing but a dog and pony show.

There is nothing wrong with you. You are an idealist and a dreamer. You finally came along and admitted that Sarah Palin is who you wanted. She fits all the grandiose illusions of perfection in your mind. That's ok. Nothing wrong with that.

So you on the Cain train now?

“Flipped” should have been in quotes.

There’s a huge difference though between the sorts of issues that Governor Perry has backed down on and the issues that Romney has done a - or a couple of - turn arounds on.

Taking your admission a step further, would it not be correct to say that Mitt Romney is the champion debater in this line-up - consistently, forcefully, and convincingly?

Does that make him the right man for the job? And does that make him our hands-down choice for the republican nomination?

Not it does not. At least not on FR.

I look for substance and confidence, experience and wisdom.

It is obvious that Mitt Romney has spent YEARS debating with a coach to unravel ANY argument someone brings against him. He has a pre-prepared answer for ALL attacks, coming from every direction.

I just do not like him, period. He's a robot.

Rush is wrong, Dubya was no conservative. Either economically or socially. He never saw a piece of legislation he didn’t like and was like a kid in the candy store with our checkbooks.

I call them "soundbite generators."

I mostly just watch 'em to see what weird stuff Ron Paul is going to toss out there. Comic relief.
