Your absolutely correct here. It seems like everyone seems to think Volcker would have been a better answer. However when the best answer is a Carter appointed Dem, who was fired by Reagan and more recently served as Chairman of Obama’s Economic Advisory Board......I would say I have to agree with you in that there was really no good choice.

Volcker was heads above Greenspan.
Greenspan is considered part of the inflation problems we are having now.
