“It is an open primary.”
Depending on the down-ticket races, and who stays in between now and the primary, they will have to poll the Democrats too in order to figure out what may happen. This race really could get crazy unpredictable.
You cannot forget that almost 30% of the South Carolina voters in 2008 were black. Hence, if the Democrats try and push Democrat voters to cross over and skew the Republican Primary they will be telling 1 voter in 3 to vote against the black man running for President. It could easily be argued that Bill Clinton's comments in South Carolina in 2008 cost Hillary the Dem nomination.
This could be a train wreck for the Dems.
