Herman Cain refused to wade into the controversy over whether it is accurate to call Mitt Romney a Christian or not.
Im not running for theologian in chief, he said on CNNs State of the Union this morning. Im a lifelong Christian and what that means is one of my guiding principles for the decisions I make is I start with do the right thing. Im not getting into that controversy. Hes a Mormon. That much I know. Im not going to do an analysis of Mormonism vs. Christianity for the sake of answering that.
When CNN host Candy Crowley pressed him, saying it appeared he was dodging the question, Cain remained adamant. If that what it looks like, Im dodging it because its not going to help us boost this economy and you know thats my number one priority, he said.
Asked about comments that no one lacking political experience could win the White House, including those made at Larry Sabatos Crystal Ball site (A Cain nomination would be an aberration of historic proportions: American political parties typically dont nominate people without previous officeholding experience for president.), Cain pushed back.
Get ready for an aberration of historic proportions, and heres why. I give dozens of speeches a week, Cain said, noting that he had been to Iowa 24 times and that the idea he was ignoring Iowa was simply a misperception.
When I give speeches to rallies, town hall meetings, whatever the audience, no matter how big or small, and I get to my lack of having held public office, I get a spontaneous applause. Im saying this, the people who are criticizing me because I have not held public office, they are out of touch with the voters out there, Cain argued.
People are saying they like the fact that I have not held public office and they love my concrete, specific ideas about how we need to fix this economy and the other problems, he said.
He also struck back at the stories that he was ditching his campaign temporarily to promote his book This is Herman Cain!
I can promote a book and campaign at the same time, he chuckled.
Not links to your posts. links to the actual signature of Perry on an order to teach Islam in Texas schools. Now lets be accurate here.
The links are on the threads. Go for it.
CIS, no thanks. The founder of that spent the 90’s as a Democrat operative. You Perry purist are slipping.
I'd like to ask for prayer for Herman Cain, that the forces of evil may be bound, and that he goes with God's protection and care, unscathed by the media's coming vicious attacks.
That’s the only link you looked at out of so very, very many? And I am slipping? ROFL
And rick perry spent half his life as a democrat. But that isn’t supposed to matter because if you’re rick perry, it’s different. Hypocrite.

What is the Muslim Histories and Culture Project (MHCP)?
The Muslim Histories and Cultures Project was born out of discussions between His Highness The Aga Khan and Texas Governor Rick Perry during the Summer 2002, when The Aga Khan was in Houston for the dedication of a new Ismaili Center. Both His Highness and Governor Perry agreed on the need for Texans to have a greater understanding of Islamic culture, and subsequently brought UT-Austin President Larry Faulkner into the discussions. Located in the state capital, Faulkners campus is well positioned to accomplish these goals. A series of meetings followed, with the project ultimately finding a home in UT-Austins College of Liberal Arts, under the guidance of Dean Richard W. Lariviere, in association with UT Liberal Arts (UT-LA), the colleges teacher preparation program.
In April 2004, the Aga Khan Foundation (AKF) and UT-Austin finalized a grant proposal that created the partnership that became known as the Muslim Histories and Cultures Program (MHC). Much has happened since the inception of the partnership. Creation and implementation of a model was of prime importance. MHC recruited and directly trained **80 teachers affecting approximately 15,150 students of World History and World Geography in ten key Texas districts during the two sessions conducted in 2005 and 2006.**
The purpose is two-fold 1) to fulfill Governor Rick Perry’s desire to better educate Texas teachers on Muslim topics and 2) to train teachers to use a cultural lens approach to understanding other cultures. Governor Perry was instrumental in getting this program off the ground.
The curriculum for this project was developed at Harvard University and modified at the University of Texas at Austin.
The responsibilities of the participants are:
~to attend the 10 seminars and complete the assigned readings.
~to attend the January, April, and June meetings in Austin.
~to create lessons concerning Islamic topics with a cultural lens approach tied to their grade level to share with other teachers.

PLANO The Ismaili Muslim community announced Tuesday that it is building a $6.5 million worship and community center in Plano, where it has found a warm welcome.
Gov. Rick Perry flew in to lay the first ceremonial brick for the center’s foundation. It was a symbolic gesture since the site for the new center will be a few miles northeast of the Gleneagles Country Club in Plano, where the foundation ceremony was held.
The governor, who is friends with the Ismaili Muslims’ spiritual leader, His Highness Prince Karim Aga Khan, said he was honored to participate.
“Our culture is enriched and our society strengthened by a diverse mixture of traditions, heritages and faiths,” Mr. Perry said. “While differences may exist on the surface, there is a common hope for the future that dwells in the heart of every Texan.”
The Ismaili Jamatkhana and Center is a house of worship for Ismailis and a gathering place for youths. The proposed 30,000-square-foot Plano facility will be the first one in Collin County and one of **five** Jamatkhanas in North Texas.

The complex eschews the domes typically found atop Islamic mosques in favor of a more contemporary structure with gardens, a prayer hall, social space, and administrative and education wings.
Ismailis belong to the Shia tradition of Islam, which is a sect of the Shiite group. As such, they believe in one God and consider the Quran the holy text through which God’s words were revealed to the prophet Muhammad. They believe that Muhammad was the last of God’s messengers to mankind.

Perry to host Muslim sects spiritual leader
Aga Khan, governor to sign UT pact with Mideast university.

Texas Gov. Rick Perry plans to host a private dinner followed by fireworks near Austin on Saturday to honor the Aga Khan, a descendant of the Prophet Muhammad celebrating his 50th year as the spiritual leader of a Muslim sect.
Earlier in the day, the leaders are expected to be on hand as the University of Texas signs an agreement with Aga Khan University, which has campuses in Pakistan and other countries, fostering student and teacher exchanges between the institutions.
Rick Perry Governor has been friends with Aga Khan for years.
Aga Khan Harvard grad is descendant of the Prophet Muhammad.
Khan, a wealthy, Harvard-educated businessman and philanthropist, leads the Shia Imami Ismaili Muslims, an offshoot of the Shiite branch of Islam, claiming 12 million to 16 million believers in 25 countries including tens of thousands in Texas.
Perry, 58, and Khan, 71, struck up an improbable friendship nearly a decade ago, resulting in a UT program exposing schoolteachers to Muslim beliefs and culture.
The jet-setting Khan grew up in Kenya and lives in France and owns hundreds of race horses. Perry was born and raised in West Texas before earning a degree at Texas A&M University.
In 2000, Perry, then lieutenant governor, visited the Aga Khan in Paris during a family trip to Europe.
Two years later, Perry and the Aga Khan visited during the opening of the Ismaili Jamatkhana and Center built in Sugar Land near Houston and at an Austin dinner hosted by Perry.
The Aga Khan Development Network subsequently funded the UT program, which has introduced 80 Texas schoolteachers to Muslim history and culture; 15 teachers have toured the Middle East, Europe and Asia.
In 2006, Perry visited a Pakistan relief center financed by the network. And last year, Perry looked at an unfinished Ismaili center in Dubai that a travel mate described as an architectural and cultural wonder that the Aga Khan is expected to replicate, to a degree, in Houston.
Eric Bearse, an outside adviser to Perry, said Saturdays golden jubilee event at the Texas Disposal Systems Exotic Game Ranch and Pavilion in Buda is an opportunity for His Highness to be in the presence of a vibrant Ismaili community in Texas as well as to be with his friend, the governor.
Perry and his wife, Anita, will dine with the religious leader at a downtown hotel tonight.
Shahed Amanullah of Austin, editor-in-chief of altmuslim.com, said the Aga Khan has a solid reputation among Muslims because of his good works, partly through the development network. The network spends $350 million a year on economic, social and cultural projects concentrated in South Asia, Africa and the Middle East.
There are a lot of non-Ismaili Muslims around the world who wish they had a leader that is as organized and as visionary, Amanullah said
Perry, who is a member of a Methodist church, and the Aga Khan emphasize the need for the Western world to understand Eastern values and vice versa. After the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks, the Aga Khan said differences between Muslim-dominated countries and the Christian-dominant West dont reflect the clash of civilizations so much as clashes of ignorance.
Neither Perrys office nor members of the Ismaili community said who is paying for Saturdays invitation-only party nor did they divulge who will attend it. Perry spokesman Robert Black said it would not be financed by the state or from economic development funds.
About 20,000 to 30,000 people are expected to hear the Aga Khan on Sunday in San Antonio. His U.S. schedule also includes stops in Georgia, Illinois and California.
Noor Jehan, whose family owns an Austin dry-cleaning business, intends to spend the weekend in San Antonio for the jubilee. Its a big, big occasion for us, Jehan said.
Asked if Ismaili Muslims liken the Aga Khans standing to the stature of the pope for Catholics, Jehan said. Hes not a pope, whos elected by cardinals. The Aga Khan is not elected by anybody. ... He is a very special leader.
Jehan was referring to the Aga Khan becoming Imam or spiritual leader of the Shia Imami Ismaili Muslims in July 1957, succeeding his grandfather, Sir Sultan Mahomed Shah Aga Khan III, a former president of the League of Nations.
Aga Khan
Born in Geneva, Switzerland, Dec. 13, 1936
Grew up in Nairobi, Kenya
Attended Swiss boarding school before Harvard University, where he graduated with honors with a degree in Islamic history
Succeeded his grandfather, Sir Sultan Mahomed Shah Aga Khan, as the Ismaili Imamat at the age of 20 on July 11, 1957, becoming the 49th hereditary spiritual leader (Imam) of the Shia Ismaili Muslims
Wealth reportedly exceeds $1 billion

The Muslim community has a significant number of political conservatives, and they do support Perry, said Mustafaa Carroll, executive director of the Council on American Islamic Relations in Houston, a group that took a position against Perrys recent Christian-only prayer rally.

GOVERNOR PERRY II: TEACH TEXAS SCHOOL CHILDREN ISLAMNOT CHRISTIANITY
Posted on August 31, 2011 by Richard Johnson
You learned, August 30, here we have the San Antonio Independent School Web presentation on pdf and Power Point. The indispensable Pamela Geller posted the entire curriculum (Muslim Histories and Culture Project) yesterday at Atlas shrugs.
She wrote, I was moved by the Texas parents who wrote to thank me for exposing this dangerous whitewash. Imagine an in-depth study of Islamic history void of the jihadi wars, land appropriations, cultural annihilations, gender apartheid, enslavements, ethnic cleansing and misogyny. I urge rational and reasoned thinkers to study the curriculum for themselves. The Perry posse would prefer you did not. I ask that you do. Here is the evidence.
The religion that the Prophet Muhammad preached provided his followers an ethical and moral vision for leading a life of righteousness. Perry/Khan curriculum.

Ethics commission investigates Perry’s Bahamas trip
Associated Press
April 22, 2004, 11:04AM
AUSTIN - The Texas Ethics Commission has told Gov. Rick Perry it will decide whether he illegally converted political money to personal use when he used campaign funds to pay for a trip to the Bahamas.

Also along on the trip at their own expense were San Antonio businessman James Leininger, a supporter of private school vouchers, and his wife Cecilia; Houston beer distributor John Nau and his wife, Bobbi; Grover Norquist, a Washington-based anti-tax activist; and Brooke Rollins, a former Perry aide now director of the Texas Public Policy Foundation, and her husband.

And much, much more.
My personal fave on "dodging" was: If that what it looks like, Im dodging it because its not going to help us boost this economy and you know thats my number one priority, he said.
They're yahoos. It's not "stupid questions quiztime." Chris Wallace's "Are you a flake?" comes to mind. Cain has to wrangle yahoos! So far, so good. He's going to need financial support to counter-publicize.

...........
so now Norquist is a great Conservative. HUMMMMMMM
There are a number of other potential candidates out there testing the waters, including CEO and self-proclaimed deal-maker Donald Trump, but no obvious front runner says Grover Norquist, president of Americans for Tax Reform and a potential kingmaker in the Republican Party.
In addition to Romney and Pawlenty, others on Norquist’s radar include:
Sarah Palin Former Governor of Alaska and McCain’s 2008 VP running mate
Mike Huckabee Former Governor of Arkansas who, like Romney, ran for President in 2008
Haley Barbour Governor of Mississippi
Jon Huntsman Former Governor of Utah
However, there is one person in particular that stands out in this lineup of potential candidates if he chooses to run: New Jersey Governor Chris Christie.
The Daily Ticker/Yahoo finance
Bump to the top.
Talking about the fundamental principles of the "Christian system" on which the Founders based our Constitution and national concept ...
... is a lot different than comparing oneself to the Messiah, which is what some falsely accuse Cain of doing.
For this nation to survive, we must embrace what's best called the Judeo-Christian ethic, and we must embrace it specifically over all others. The JD ethic is the one that WORKS. Telling a tree by its fruit and all that.
AMEN! I think it's why you have to have that "personal relationship" with him that preachers are always talking about. At bottom, it's just you and Him, that's all. There's dignity in Christ.
Socialism and Communism reject, mangle and destroy dignity. Islam is founded on death, deceit, and submission, and it aggresively seeks to remove dignity from non-Moslems. Personally, I think what really ails us is religious, and that we will inevitably find ourselves girding for a religious war. God bless Americans that they see the strength and value of Christianity quick.
Yep. The principle of “principles” sails right over your head.
YOU are being obtuse.
**80 teachers affecting approximately 15,150 students of World History and World Geography in ten key Texas districts during the two sessions conducted in 2005 and 2006.**
10 KEY Rexas distructs to teach approximately 15,150 students of World History and World Geography. These are students, not teachers.
Norquist is a bastich married to a palestinian devout muslim, (which means she can only marry a muslim.) who introduced jihadis into the bush AND other administrations. Get a clue.
10 KEY TEXAS districts.
