One thing that really hit me this year is this: I’ve worked with a LOT of successful black people in my career path. As far as I can remeber, with the exception of one man and one woman, ALL of them were born outside the US. They were immigrants.

I think there is a story there.

In the old tv variety show “In Living Color” which made stars out of Damon Wayans and the white guy (I forget his name!), they had a running gag about hard-working black people from the Caribbean. Non-stop work ethic. It wasn't the funniest of their skits (Damon Wayans angry ex-con “Homey the Clown” was the best) but it was really stinging.
