SPRINGFIELD The support of groups at one end or the other say, the Tea Party or MoveOn.org is great, but U.S. Sen. Mark Kirk, R-Ill., said there arent enough votes there to win in 2012.
The reality is independent voters control the fate of the nation, Kirk said during an appearance in Springfield on Friday afternoon.

I see you libertarians never let up in fomenting divisions among Republicans, in service of your leftist democrap overlords.
Why do you care if someone is a ‘RINO,’ i.e., Republican in Name Only, when you dislike Republicans in the first place?
The label is truly meaningless and contradictory.
If you believe the GOP was ever 100% far right conservative, you are dreaming. And if you think it should be more conservative, then work within the party. However, you are not ever going to get perfect agreement on everything.
Oh, and you left out the libertarian component of the Tea Party, which is significant and dominant. They, I think, deserve the label ‘RINO’ because they disagree with virtually the entire RNC platform, yet find it convenient to wear the ‘R’ label when running for office.
This kind of backstabbing babble was predictable from the day Illinois Republicans picked him over a conservative opponent.
What’s your point? It’s kind of hard to make out.
If you are trying to say that Mitt Romeny represents the majority/consensus view within the Republican Party, you are delirious.
Isn’t this the guy who filled the Baraq Hussein Obama seat after defeating the appointed Dem?
“when you dislike Republicans in the first place?” I don’t dislike Republicans at all. What I dislike is someone disregarding voters who sent them to Washington and voting like they feel, or what is good for their cronies. I don’t care how they feel, or who their friends are. Vote like the hard working American people who sent you there, in the first place. We just want representation of our conservative values, patriotic views.

That’s a good point.
Ron Paul is a RINO, due to his many libertarian-not-Republican positions, but his supporters calls others RINOs.
If it weren't for the Tea party folks, you would have lost to the mafia banker.
He is absolutely correct. Just look at John McCain’s 2008 victory for president.
He’s such a treasure, ain’t he ?
Who said he didn’t lose ? That election was fixed by the Combine. The RINO for the Senate and the rodent for the Governorship. They keep their hands and influence in both parties.
The RINO states the obvious. There is no one group which in and of itself can win an election. The idea is for a group to get the other groups members to come to their side by convincing them of the “rightness” of their positions.
Kirk is a POS.
From what I know about the liberal cesspool that much of Illinois has become, I think he would be right.
Whatever the popularity of individual Tea Party candidates like Herman Cain might be, the notion that the Tea Party somehow appeals to the majority of mush-headed swing voters is delusional. The thrashing of Tea Party favorite Sharon Angle in Nevada in 2008 by the roundly disliked and unlikeable Harry Reid is a prime example of what happens when delusion meets reality.
I don't understand why you people think mush-brained nanny state-loving swing-voter dolts are somehow in thrall with the Tea Party. I wish that they were, but if they were, they wouldn't be mush-brained nanny state-loving swing-voter dolts.
And sadly, they're the voters who will elect the next president.
Kirk is right- IF you accept the two-candidate limit.
Romney breaks the model.
Ok butt munch Kirk, then explain how the most liberal, extremely polarizing and inexperienced Senator in the history of the US, got elected President in 2008 ?
I do not expect you to understand the very clear point that I made about the stupidity and lack of logic in the ‘RINO’ label, but do NOT put words in my mouth and tell me what I am “trying” to say. If YOU have a point to make, then state it but do NOT misrepresent what I say. The fact that you attempt to do so indicates confusion and ill will on your part.
I can name a least a dozen Republican politicians who have been labelled RINO on this forum who ARE patriotic. Many have high ACU ratings. None of that matters once they have been vilified by the 'true conservatives,' who have become so narrow and paranoid they have truly lost sight of what this nation is and should be. We were not founded as a "group think" nation and such a vision is a dead end.
To believe that someone is not patriotic because you have labelled them RINO is a grave error.
