Lawrence O'Donnell's Offensive Interview with Herman Cain
The Atlantic ^ | Oct 7, 2011 | Conor Friedersdorf

Posted on 10/08/2011 10:32:15 PM PDT by fightinJAG

O'Donnell: I misread your book and its references to the Navy. I thought you served in the Navy. You're now telling me you didn't. Can you explain how you avoided military service during the Vietnam War and during the draft, and why you should be commander in-chief if you did successfully avoid service during the war that came during what would have been your war years? After avoiding the Vietnam War, why should you be commander-in-chief?

Cain: Lawrence, you know, do you stay up nights coming up with the wording of these questions?

O'Donnell: Just thought of that one now ...How did you do that?

Cain: You say, "How did I avoid the Vietnam War?" I wasn't trying to avoid the Vietnam War! Here's what happened, Lawrence. I was working in a critical area called exterior ballistics. I worked on something called rocket assisted projectiles for the Department of the Navy. It was my local board in Atlanta, Georgia, that told me, "We would rather have you continue to do that analytical work, to help the Navy, rather than us draft you." Secondly, when they had the lottery, I made myself available. The year that they had the lottery for the draft, they did not draft me because they didn't get to my number. So I think that's a poor choice of words on your part to say that I "avoided" the Vietnam War. I made myself available to my country, and they did not draft me. The rest of the time I was serving my country in a critical role called exterior ballistic analysis. So I am offended with your choice of words in terms of what I was doing during the Vietnam War.

Yeah buddy. He’s grasping at straws...

Libs are so twisted and confused-

They argue about positions that they themselves would never personally take, like for instance, service to this country...

Clowns and fools they are.

Ted’s life mission was to be either drunk or hung over. He’s still dead I hear, but pickled pretty good...

Although I doubt very much that the coward muslim would have served anyway.

Barry serves himself - he doesn't help unless there's more in it for him. Is it Jan 2013 yet? Is there security to watch what they are taking from our house? Silver has gone up in price. They need to restore the Oval Office the way they found it - Americans aren't into ugly!

That’s was a question Cain should have asked him. Ask him what president didn’t serve his country during nam.

I live in Boston, and every night I head to work I walk through the “Rose Kennedy Greenway”—tens of millions of taxpayer dollars for a strip of grass to honor the Kennedy name. On the other side of which is a road named after another member of the family...

Apparently, fat, drunk and stupid IS the way to go through life.

Tell it to the perry supporters right here on FR. It’s freaking amazing what they are doing. Most of us don’t even post to the perry threads anymore necause it’s simply useless, but first thing every single morning and throughout the day, every other perry post is a slam on Herman Cain. Most are out of context, some less than truthful or factual, and some just beyond the pale. It is a crying shame.
The ones that aren’t a slam on Cain are warm and fuzzy “love that perry” crap regardless of anything HE has done we don’t agree with...telling us why he is actually right and the entire rest of the country is wrong.
I mean dang. His “poor” family had an outhouse? Really? THAT’S a presidential qualification?

Liberals are hysterical. Truly insane people.

They hated Vietnam...hate all war...but make you feel guilty if you didn’t serve how they see fit and see it played out in their movies. Lawrence and everyone at MSNBC should be put on the front lines of Afghanistan.

Should be a nice place to walk the dog after some kibbles and bits.

I suppose what galls me most and I confess it is off the point is that O'Donnell simply assumes that John Kerry has been vindicated and the Swiftboat veterans who exposed Kerry have been discredited. It galls me mostly because he will in fact get away with it. If one looks at Wikipedia one will see the turning of history on its head. If one googles "Swift boat" the second and third headlines will produce Wikipedia articles sustaining Kerry:

Swift Vets and POWs for Truth

Swiftboating

We have even lost the word battle. "Swiftboating" should mean exposing poltroons and "Borking" should have entered the lexicon as calculated destruction of an individual by smear.

I take this as a metaphor for the losing battle that conservatism fights merely to see that truth gets its boots on.

Cain worked for the Navy, doing what He does best, crunching numbers to put the the steel on the target. Everybody serves a purpose, including Cain, who stepped up to the challenge. At least He put his knowledge to good use, verses our questionable commander in chief.

O’Donnell is a certifiable psychopath. He’s also an admitted socialist, communist and to the left of the Communist Party, which puts him in North Korea somewhere.

However, he is the poster boy for MSNBC (Main Stream Nothing But Crazies) so what do you expect from him?

Glad to see that someone at the Atlantic was attentive enough to write about this smear job.

By the way, LAWRENCE, I didn’t see your red ass in Nam or Cambodia. Guess you were on the secret mission John Kerry had into Cambodia. Sorry those drunk So. Vietnamese didn’t wack you during their Christmas celebrations (which never took place).
One can dream, can’t they.

MSNBC ought to create a new comedy show called “The Asylum”. They wouldn’t need to cast-call for anyone since they have Maddow, Schulz, O’Donnell, and Sharpton. All you do each week is to lock them in a room with enough booze and donuts and you’ll get the best look at insanity that was ever shown on TV.

Hey, I’ll through in Rosie O’Donnell (Larry’s sister?) for Rachel.

EMMY WINNER ENVELOPE, PLEASE!!

I found the greatest passion on Lawrence O'Donnell's part in the twenty-three-minute hate peaked at the uttering of the words John Kerry (who served in Vietnam).

Other accoustic spikes occurred at the seventeen times O'Donnell spat out the word avoid.

Now, Mr. Cain made it quite clear he was an analyst for the Department of the Navy for its rocket assisted projectile at the time Kerry was slandering our fighting men before Ted Chappaquiddick's committee.

O'Donnell's pack of Reds loathed and despised America's entry into the Vietnam conquest of Ho Chi Minh.

O'Donnell's boy Bill Ayers was part of the SDS Weathermen and their Days of Rage October 8-11, 1969 against Daley's police army.

In the following years Ayers would be blowing things up with bombs, something we now call terrorism.

Ayers would be calling for the murder of 25 million to save the revolution.

And of course Ayers is key in Obama-Soetero's entry into the autobahn of Soroastrian destruction--just as Dohrn hooked up the boy with the beard.

O'Donnell's man-crush Kerry would be treating with the enemy, something we would call treason.

January 19, 1969 in Washington for the Left's Nixon Counterinnaugural Ayers' Maoists in their armbands chanted "Ho Ho Ho Chi Minh! The NLF is gonna win!" as they jogged past Justice, one of their little platoon peeling off to bang the iron knocker on the big steel doors.

It's Alinsky to use your opponents' morality against them--hence O'Donnell the Communist uses avoidance of the war against Communism against Cain.

O'Donnell of course is a weenie and wouldn't go to war for a place in a Starbucks' line.

And of course he, like Ayers, and Frank Marshall Davis, and Obama-Soetero High-Chair Tyrant all favor the Red Army anyway, so.

And today Mr. Cain will facilitate our accurate placement of ordnance on target, po-li-ti-cal-ly speaking.

And Lawrence's eyes will sink deeper into his molten skull.

Not all patriots served in the military.

All who served in the military are not necessarily patriots.

I looked at O’Donnels BIO and saw zero reference to him being in the military either by the draft or voluntarily. He was born in 1951 making him of prime age for Vietnam. He was also a teenager during the civil rights era he discussed, but I saw nothing in his bio showing that he did anything in that field either.
He describes himself as a “european socialist.” Reason enough to deport him right there.

What a POS. He acts like someone who hasn't advanced beyond high school.

O'Donnell and MSNBC have earned whatever backlash comes their way.

Clearly, they aren't about earning ratings, market share or advertisers.
