Dems leaned years back that 'gun control' did NOT work for them as an issue. Dems don't run on it, their butt boys in the media don't talk about it anymore, and this 'sting' had nothing to do with gun control.
If an issue doesn't get votes for dems they drop it. This sting had to do with finding conservative 'lone wolfs' and presenting them to the nation as dangerous ... IMHO.
A side business might have been supplying guns to criminals in exchange for 'favors' - kind of a Chicago Way thing...

I know most dems won’t run on gun control, BUT Bozo doesn’t need an election to force a bill, or an amendment to a bill, through the legislature, particularly when he had a captive legislature. All he needed was an excuse and Fast and Furious, or Gunwalker if you will, was the excuse. You reasons are most likely true also, but gun control was a big part of it. This is What Bozo meant when he told people he was working on gun control “behind the scenes”.
