Well then, the Kurds and the Berbers might well petition the UN for nationhood status too. If these non-islamist tribes and clans start to assert themselves, could help to stave off the radical islamization of the area.

The U.S. and Europeans failed to foresee these complexities and nuances when imposing the western style of countries and borders. U.S. also failed in its promise to help the Kurds, vintage Gulf War I.

Just some thoughts.....

Sadly, it wasn’t a mere matter of Europeans failing to forsee consequences of imposing western style of countries and borders. It was a well thought out program of lumping incompatible tribes and peoples together to maintain power by sowing discord within the countries. Now we are all paying the price. I am not sure how much the US had to do with this situation other than going along with it.
