The problem I see...and I live in Arlington so I know this stuff.....there are 10k people who travel hundreds and thousands of miles for their one and only trip to DC....on a daily basis. Some come from as far away as Japan, France, and Russia. They want to see all that DC offers in terms of 5-star museums. These people are on a timetable and only have X number of days in the DC region.

So when the demonstrators come to mess with museums and attractions....it really gives a negative view of everything, including the message that some dimwit protester might have. You end up with people from the heartland who are hostile, and people from overseas who shake their head over this confusing protest.

Yes, exactly. This is why, during the mid-1990s government shutdowns the MSM was all over the Mall, doing interviews with tourists who were pi**ed off that the Museums were closed.
