RIP - just win, baby...
Expect the funeral to be blacked out.
For all the people who lambaste him as having been an “interfering” owner, it’s interesting that the Raiders went to Super Bowls in the 1960s, 1970s, 1980s, and 2000s, missing only one decade. The Giants can’t say that; the Jets can’t say that; the Bucs, Bears, Vikes, Chargers, Patriot’s can’t say that (and so far, neither can the Cowboys or Packers). So it is a remarkable record, despite an often dismal performance recently.
Maybe they will bury him in a gravel pit.
Roger Williams, the piano player who made “Autumn Leaves” famous, passed away today at 87.
Gee, thanks a lot, buddy. This is me at a Raider game several years ago.
Well how nice of you to brand me a low life, guess I just don’t know who you are Mr. Importent
Sorry, but I have to disagree.
The worst lowlifes in all NFL fan-dom are the fans of the Philadelphia Eagles.
I will NEVER forget the lowlifes of Philly jeering and calling out the name of Joe Jurevicious son, just a few days after that infant son died. They are DIRT.
I’m a patriots fan, and in the lead up to last weeks game, somebody was relating the story about how crazy the Raiders fans were He said when they entered the parking lot. There was a little old lady in the wheelchair flipping the bird with both hands The other announcer said that was no little lady that was Al Davis!
Ha ha, so you’re one of THOSE people!
Spice of life, I say!
Well, I’m sure there’s a bit of a mixed feelings there because I’ve always thought it is true that Al Davis sometimes wasn’t making the best decisions, but that said His teams were always a blast to watch and have a lot of character. I absolutely enjoyed having the Raiders in the league when they had people like Kenny Stabler, Bilitnikoff and even George Blanda. Ah well, passing of an era.
The Mad Bomber! That has got to be one of the best nicknames of all time!
RIP Al
Ralph Wilson sent $200,000 to Oakland to save the franchise when it was about to go under in the early days of the AFL. So it stayed in Oakland until the grass looked greener in LA. When the grass turned brown Al moved back to Oakland. The Buffalo Bills are still in Buffalo and Wilson is 92 years old. Wilson has been faithful to the league whether it was the AFL or the NFL and kept his team in a small market. I will go with Wilson as one of the best owners ever in Professional football. Al Davis was, um, just colorful. Black is a color after all.
RIP.
