Agreed it has been many years since I was a public school teacher (50’s,60’s) but my contract was always for one year and automatically extended year by year. However, one could say I was laid off and rehired each year. Incidentally I initially received $300 p/mo for 9 months per year. Of course, prevailing wages then were around $1.50 p/hr. We made out fine as started to fill the house with kids. They are remembered by all of us as happy times.
