I often wish, in hindsight, that McCain had taken Lieberman as his running mate. Not because I think Joe is better than Sarah (he’s not!), but because I believe McCain was doomed to defeat no matter what and Palin was irreparably damaged from her association with it.
If I could somehow have a “Do-over” of the 2008 GOP convention, I would have had Palin’s role be that of a keynote-type speaker. She would have been able to introduce herself to America, showing off her potential, while continuing to learn and grow as a governor back home without 24-7 media attacks.
Palin’s strength and ability to lead has never been in doubt in my mind. But I believe her lack of experience in 2008 left her unprepared for the endless partisan attacks from the MSM and the backstabbing from McCain’s own people. True, she came up to speed quickly enough. By election day, she was the one bright spot I saw in an otherwise disastrous campaign. But I still have to wonder what might have happened if Sarah had entered national politics with two full terms of experience as a governor.
In a week, they'll be begging for us to support their candidate, and begging Palin to endorse their candidate.
Now all these losers will have to come up with actual topics of interest to sell their papers and website clicks, instead of putting Palin’s name in the headline and expecting traffic.
with Sarah bowing out... that leaves only one candidate to win 2012
hilary
cain won’t win. the far right won’t vote for him, staying home.
romney won’t win. the media will pump up his mormonism... and the far right will stay home
0bama won’t run, as there will be demands for eligibility documents this time... which he won’t risk.
that leaves hilary.

“The Palin Industry”? You mean the one Politico helped create?
I didn’t support Sarah, but I will tell you one thing. ....... She will be by far the most searched out endorsement in the GOP primary. Count on it.

Well, her personal industry will do just fine (I mean the stuff she and Todd were doing before). The political and journalistic BS industry that limpeted onto her and the febrile minds behind it might be a very different story. In particular I predict Andrew Sullivan does a Bruce-Dern-at-the-end-of-”Coming Home”, i.e. strips off and swims out into the Atlantic sometime between Memorial Day weekend and the Fourth, now that he doesn’t have Sarah’s womb to kick around any more.
