I think it could be Newt. I’ve heard Cain on several occasions call Newt “brilliant”.

I don’t think it will be Perry because I’ve heard Cain say enough negative things about Perry that I don’t think he’ll pick him. They just don’t see eye-to-eye on enough issues.

You mean you really don't understand that the greatest immediate problem facing our Country is the lack of jobs, the poor business climate and the economy in general? Herman Cain knows , from personal experience, about creating jobs, making businesses profitable so that they can hire workers, and successfully turning economic failures into economic successes.
Herman Cain is exactly what the Country needs now.

Cain's business experience only gives him an advantage if he learned something that no other candidate knows AND he is able to turn that knowledge into policy. Virtually everyone here knows what's hurting the economy -- over-regulation, over-taxation, Obamacare, uncertainty about Washington policy, etc. The President of the United States doesn't create a single (private sector) job, he just helps craft policy so that others can create those jobs. And that policy gets implemented only after Congress passes the laws for it. What secret knowledge does Herman Cain possess that we and the other candidates don't?

The MSM is going to do its best to, successfully, “trip up” Herman Cain, and I do hope that Herman Cain is well prepared for it!

I said something like that myself awhile back.
The Lame Brain Media may even attack his family.
Anyhow, I mostly know of Mr Cain from when he had his radio show.
Although, like many others I am checking out all about Mr Cane’s background.
Anyhow, from all I have learned I have no doubt whatsoever that Mr Cane can handle anything they throw at him.
He may even turn it around on them and make them look like the professional used pre-moisened towelettes that they are.

I’m REALLY sick of the misinformation here. I expect it out of the general public but not here. Palin did NOT say Cain was “the flavor of the month”, she said THE PRESS made him flavor of the month. Seriously, watch the interview. All of it, not just press soundbites.

I’d even settle for Cain/Romney but NEVER THE OTHER WAY AROUND

Not me. I do not want Romney any where near the white house unless it's just for dinner.

Did you forget what happened when Reagan chose Bush as his VP? George became the next president and ultimately allowed Clinton to beat him.

No, I want a conservative as president and VP. Then no matter what happens we have a conservative in charge, and plus after 8 years the conservative VP will become the next president.

The following video must be watched by all.Herman Cain takes on the MSM and wins!If Lawrence ODonnell had only questioned Obama like this we would not be in a depressed state beyond even a Depression.

Excellent choices for a Cain admistration...I would add Allen West for Defense and Rubio or Ryan for VP.

You also need to watch her interview with Judge Napolitano a couple days later, after the press had bounced it around a bit. She said emphatically she was talking about the press. After she said Cain was the flavor of the week (talking about the MSM as she said on Freedom Watch) she was so complimentary about him she could’ve been standing on the sidelines shaking her pom poms. Given the scope of the interview it was clear to me she was talking about the press (so it’s kinda ironic they got this wrong). Context is everything.

I’m thinking Newt or possibly John Bolton, I don’t think Sarah would take VP, but I could be wrong on that.

It amazes me how the MSM ATTACKS and grills beyond vetting all non democratic presidents.Yet we have dumb and dumber in the WH right now and they didn’t nor currently peep a word. The two most clueless in corruption in history will be Obama and Biden.Cain will go all the way and not be downtrodden and he has no problem throwing they’re spin right in they’re faces and they will have a meltdown when he is POTUS.

Certain qualities are necessary for president. The reason we usually vote for governors is because they have EXECUTIVE experience...i.e. experience running a large entity like a state or corporation. A good executive (and we already know Cain is excellent) knows how to find the best person for the job and to find expertise in areas they don’t know as much about. They also know how to delegate. Surround yourself with good people and trust them to do their job and you have a formula for success.

Like all border states Perry had to make choices for his state on how to handle the situation so he might have more experience with circumstances on the border but not on deciding national policy...though he does have an advantage.

Obviously he hasn’t lowered taxes but he does know how tax policy effects business (small and large) because corporations have to have policies that deal specifically with taxes. Bet he knows what needs to be done. In this case I think a business person would be best since this affects the private sector. People in government for too long forget what it’s like in the real world.

Other than play ping pong with embryonic stem cells what has any president done about abortion? With three coequal branches of government what is he supposed to do. They can control where and how some money is spent but Roe will have to be overturned for any meaningful legislation to happen.

How do you “implement” pro second amendment policies? It’s a constitutional right. No policy necessary other than making sure states don’t override constitutional rights. To my knowledge Bush didn’t do that either.

As for “implementing” conservative ideals. He lives them. That mean he has spent a lifetime understanding, from the perspective of a private citizen and a businessman how important it is to get the government out of the freaking way so we can live according to our ideals.

Considering all the man has accomplished the fact that you would relegate him to nothing more than someone who can “fix” the post office, either you haven’t done your homework (it’s not a question of supporting him but not misrepresenting what he’s done), or simply find it difficult to discern facts from research.

But I really think, and I’m not trying to be mean because I know I was lacking (and still learning) about how the government works. The executive branch is very much like a corporation, whether state or federal. The president is the CEO with various departments, state, defense, interior, etc. So someone with SUCCESSFUL executive experience whether in government or the private sector will be most successful.

Maybe I’m naive but I don’t know why this is a problem? How does this destroy the party? All candidates have their warts. We just have to decide what warts we can live with.

Cindie, although it may not mean much, I appreciate your well-thought out response. Here's what I will say in answering my own questions.

Perry made it a legislative priority to get a bill passed requiring a sonogram before getting an abortion (a law which he signed). That's only one of the various abortion bills he signed into law.

On the border, he has placed Texas Rangers on the border, requested National Guard troops, etc.

On taxes, Perry has opposed any state income tax, limited how much schools can raise property taxes, etc.

On the Second Amendment, Perry signed laws supporting the Castle doctrine, preventing lawsuits against gun manufacturers, etc.

I agree that Cain has shown himself to be an effective businessman, but that's not what the President of the United States does. And while I certainly don't agree with everything Perry has done, I'd have no problem voting for him. (Then again, as we joked about yesterday, unless it was Satan vs. Obama, I'd vote for anyone else!).

“Cain can easily balance out his lack of DC experience with a good VP. Someone with decent conservative credentials but knows how Washington works.”

A Midwest candidate would be good.

John Kasich, Mike Pence ...

Ryan is a good choice too.

Newt might be good but is another Georgian. He’d make a good CoS or domestic advisor.

I actually haven’t chosen a candidate yet, though I think both Perry & Cain have the right kind of experience to make them effective presidents, but with Palin not running I’m starting to look at others. And her opinion is also important to me, as it is to the candidates since the minute they found out she wasn’t running wanted to meet with her. When it comes to jobs & budgets, Cain has that over the other candidates as he’s had to dealt with every single issue that makes business successful which leads to more employment.

The issues you cite are important but whoever we elect is going to, necessarily, be most involved in creating jobs and reducing the deficit. Part of Reagan’s philosophy was to pick a few important things, focus on them and do them well. That’s one of the reasons he was such an effective (great) president.

I’d love to see mandatory sonograms (though there are privacy issues and it would probably go to the courts) and absolute protection of the 2nd amendment for all. I want to see our standing in the world increase. But right now our government needs to work on getting the economy going. A CEO does all those things: cutting waste, regulations, taxes, etc. Like it or not, people aren’t going to be able to concentrate on other important issues until they don’t feel like any minute the world is going to fall apart and they’ll no longer be able to put food on the table.

This doesn’t mean those important issues can’t be dealt with, it just means (and this applies even for a person who does have expertise in this area) the president needs to delegate these things to people with expertise in those areas. Imagine Perry or Jan Brewer at homeland security dealing with the border issue. Talk about experience! Or Michelle Bachmann as attorney general, Palin as energy secretary, Bolton as secretary of state, West as Sec. of Defense, etc. In other words (and I’m not saying Cain is the only one who can do this, just that he has the proven experience to hire the best) regardless of who wins, they’re concentration is going to have to be on gov spending/deficit, economy & jobs. The very best that person can do is find the very best people for the other positions and let them do their jobs.

That doesn’t mean a president doesn’t need to know about and make decisions regarding other matters, but if he has experts they can fill him in & discuss recommendations. He will have the final say and will definitely have international duties (we need to put America back on top) since the world is crashing as well since they no longer have leadership from us, but an excellent sec. state can keep him thoroughly briefed. Thus, he might be better prepared than someone who tries to do everything.

For me, Cain’s big draw is that he has the kind of executive experience we need to solve economic issues and he hasn’t been entrenched in government for so long he hasn’t forgotten what the private sector is life. And he understands personally how crony capitalism has ruined the nation. And a successful CEO knows how to delegate and how to find the best people with positions he agrees with and who have the strength to do what needs to be done. But as I said, I’ve just started studying the two (none of the others are electable IMO) so I haven’t made up my mind despite my leaning towards Cain.

We have reached a point where the compromising and the incestual relationship some of Repubs have with the most liberal Dems has to be considered.

After what Obama has done to this country in the last 3 years. It is beyond me how ANY serious candidate would put a hillary Rodham and Bubba Clinton “good friend” or a Juan McCain advisor in charger of their POLITICAL ops.

No Conservative in their right mind would bring the enemy into their org. Funny Huntsman (Obama ambassador-Beck is good friends with his DAD) can’t get any support, yet Cain can have relationships with questionable people and it’s ok.

Nope I’m not going to buy that pig in a poke.
