What Perrys fundraising shows, his backers argue, is that hes the only conservative candidate in the race with the resources to compete against Mitt Romney over the long haul. In other words, he can spend his way out of his current predicament.
And while Perry has likely lost his chance to run away with the Republican presidential nomination, his eye-opening cash haul collected in just 49 days suggests he may yet be able to wrest it from Romney in an expensive, bruising nomination fight that drags on into spring.
He is going to have the resources to run a comprehensive and lengthy campaign, said Mississippi Republican National Committeeman Henry Barbour, a Perry supporter. Its clear that he would have raised more than $17 million if not for the loss of momentum that happened in Florida, which makes the $17 million more impressive.

If the Perry team is correct and Romney has already disqualified himself with too many GOP primary voters, theres only one other candidate in the race who looks capable of cobbling together the right set of votes to claim the nomination.
Were 90 days out from the first ballot being cast and I dont know whether Romney can seal the deal, said Jeff Ballabon, an influential GOP fundraiser supporting Perry. But $17 million in seven weeks from 20,000 in 50 states just said loud and clear that Perry can.

Well done!
If the choice is between turning America into a socialized medicine sh*thole like Western Europe or turning America into a third world sh*thole like Mexico, I’m voting for the pizza man.
Listen, every candidate has something the base doesn’t support . . not one is the perfect choice. Perry has more of what I value than the others have. Perry will rise again.
Romney go home.
That makes two of us.
But let me tell you something, folksyou cant fix stupid. Theres not a pill you can take. Theres not a class you can go to. Stupid is fo-evah.
Pizza man won’t be on the ballot in 2012. You’ll need to pencil him in...fyi.
Yes, that's what voters are looking for as their next President: a cross between Joe Isuzu and Elmer Gantry who pushes open borders and “pay-to-play.”
Just one problem. He is not the only conservative in the race & not even the only only with resources. Once again the media likes to ignore Ron Paul who while libertarian is still far more conservative than the rest.

The media ignores Ron Paul because people change the channel when they cover him.
So Perry’s handing out a lot of big IOU’s to cronies lining up at the trough. All we’ll do if we throw the rascal in the White House out is another rascal will move in. Same rascal, different cronies. Here come’s Bush III!
I’d take Cain over Romney or Perry.
I’d take Romney over Perry.
I hear the plan now among Perry's backers will be to offer every Republican primary voter a free illegal Mexican gardener to vote for Rick.
So who would you vote for, Bush or Romney? Just curious.
His ratings when he is on tv are higher than anyone else.
Ron Paul upsets the apple cart.
The msm does the bidding of the global elites. That’s why they couldn’t stop talking about Bilderberg Perry even when he was saying all of those embarrassing things on tv.
Cain is certainly increasing his VP chances these days.
Reality does have a way of eventually settling in, doesn't it? :)
Agree. Romney versus Perry would be a horrid choice, but I prefer socialized medicine to turning the country into one big barrio.
Be sure and let Jim Robinson know you’d vote Romney over Perry.
