Laz - don't misquote me. I said Palin's decision was "smart," not "brilliant." She DOES need to polish her image, but I didn't say that I know for sure that she can do it, just that she needs to. I don't think she's dumb at all, but I'm not sure she's presidential material. They are two very different things.
I am not one of those who think Palin is our only or best hope, and I've also wondered on other threads if she has become addicted to celebrity. But few politicians aren't addicted to celebrity or a high opinion of themselves. Palin isn't unique in that respect, she's just BETTER at being a celebrity than most politicians, which is why it gets noticed.
And I still strongly resist the idea that she's a coward and a quitter.
“...But few politicians aren’t addicted to celebrity or a high opinion of themselves.Palin isn’t unique in that respect, she’s just BETTER at being a celebrity than most politicians, which is why it gets noticed...”
The striking reason I choose to support Palin is because she sincerely represents the will of the people, a long lost virtue in politics. THAT’S what primarily makes her UNIQUE. She has the amazing instinctive ability of connecting with people, exactly where it matters.
All one has to do is observe and analyze her EXPERIENCE. Get past the (media and gop establishment) engineered curtain of manufactured vilification. Then, take a close, honest look at Palin’s RECORD.
SHE IS UNIQUE, because she refuses to play the game. Her opponents will always hate her for that. And they will market that hate to no end, hoping to carry on board with them all those who want to play along, those who decide not to actually do their homework and LOOK AT HER RECORD.
This country needs her governing style, rather than a bunch of frightened ninnies unwilling to buck the system.
