“I’m sure that many if not the majority of Sarah’s followers will do exactly that, but there will be a highly vocal minority of misfits, losers and malcontents who will not only refuse to carry the fight to our liberal/left enemies, they will turn on, and bare their yellow fangs at Sarah herself, after singing her praises endlessly, it only demonstrates the emptiness of whatever passes for their souls.”

Well said, and worth repeating. Also there are plenty of Palin bashers who are relishing this moment.

I still think Sarah’s great, I love her ideas pretty much across the board. One part of me wants to think she’s less of a fighter than I thought, but on the other hand I respect her right to do what’s best for her family. She is clearly a realist, and it may also be that she realized she’d not win after the constant pounding of negative media, and she did what she thought best for the country and the Republican Party.

Her dropping out has made me that much more determined to work hard on ousting 0 in the next election, and replacing him with a conservative.

Time for a new tagline...

Maybe because if she [Sarah] had ANY intention of running FNC would have not (never) paid her to give her opinions on the real candidates all these months due to campaign finance law. Yes, I read the imaginative explanations about how employer FNC would learn she was really running the day of her announcement. They were delusional. Palin had no intention of opening herself up to campaign finance charges, nor did FNC.

SoL, you have as usual, nailed it. Sarah is, if nothing else scrupulously honest, she would never have done or said anything which could have been construed as a violation of FEC rules or regulations.

Sarah fed off the attention. Don’t act like she didn’t play games and inject herself into this. She just doesn’t have that fight in her. She deserves to be admonished for how she went about this! We will all go our separate ways now, but I’ll tell you my opinion is that people are deluding themselves thinking this is just another election and things will be fine 4 yrs. from now. She was give one of the rare opportunities and will have to think about that in the not-to-distant future.

Surprised she didn’t “Tweet” it. Into the dustbin, Sarah.

I came to the conclusion about a month ago if you read through my posts that she was playing games. I removed my post Palin 2012 because the way she went about this was all wrong. You cannot continuously put yourself out there and keep the hopes and push for people that have their hopes on you going for so long and then, knowing the field, wait THIS LONG to say you’re not in. I can have my opinion and it happens to be that Palin is no part of anything right now and all talk.

I don’t think there were any polls that showed that she had a chance of winning against Obama. A pipe dream floats away. Life goes on.

What perplexes me is she announces this the afternoon after two days from when the DVD of ‘The Undefeated’ goes on sale. Not only did this likely kill the sales (after the first two+ days) but it set off another two days of ‘when she will announce’ speculation via C4P. Was two + days a business decision?

I agree with both your posts....

..she played this out....dangling the hope of... 'anyday now she will commit'....

...and then she didn't.....just like that.

I'm not alone crying in my coffee this morning and trying to grasp what just happened....it was absolutely abrupt.

Kingmaker?.....I can't see it

She just threw all her cards on the table and walked away.

It's not very charitable of me...(sorry) but at this point, I just wish she and her family, including Bristol, go back to Alaska and stay there.

For those to whom the opportunity for schadenfreude outweighs your compassionate humanity, now is the time to kick me

Nah, no kicks.

Maybe a snotty smirk in passing is all.

I think Palin would have certainly added to the dialog of the election and probably have been a good president.

It sucks that so many had so much emotion invested though.
Gambling with such rare coin can lead to painful losses.

Peanuts. She made at least 10 million last year, and has a five year deal with Fox reportedly at 1 million a year. Her next book will still likely garner 5 or 6 million.

RE :"thank you for being kind to me as well even though we disagree"

I enjoyed your vanities and your honesty, even though we disagreed as you point out. Too bad this couldnt have worked out better for you. But you are young and can learn from it.

Most likely a business decision in order to recoup some of the money Bannon spent making the film.

I myself think it was awful because people buying the film were still boosted to believe she was running. Remember that news that her attorneys were checking into the latest filing deadlines right at the time the movie was released?

2 days later, she says she isn’t running.

Not very nice to the fans IMO.

Good it didn’t go on longer than that.

Said 3rd party = Obama win.

Obama supporters are depending on a conservative third party candidate.

Well, if you mean this, then it's pathological. I'm reminded of a scene one would find in Monty Python's "Life of Brian."

Brian: "I'm NOT the Messiah."

Voice in the crowd: "See that? Only the Messiah would claim he's not the Messiah."

So Palin is now lying to you? Because of her genius "misdirection" and "unconventional" campaign---which isn't a campaign because she isn't running?

Just wow.

Thanks for the kind words PL, although I have a different take on what you said about:

Also there are plenty of Palin bashers who are relishing this moment.

I don't think it's so much Palin 'bashers' relishing the moment, it is a very understandable reaction, "push back" if you will, at the over-the-top Sarah supporters here on FR (not all, but many) who created a cottage industry dedicated to trashing anyone who so much as raised the slightest question regarding Sarah's potential campaign, her positions, her actions, words, etc.

For those who were unwilling to jump on board the Sarah Express, there was nothing but disdain and a highly focused effort to demand that the "Not-Sarah" posters a.) reveal WHO THEIR candidate was in order for the P.R.R.T. ('Palin Rabid Response Team') to trash both the 'heretic' AND their candidate.

Anyone who dared criticize Sarah Palin was subject to any and all sorts of name calling, personal attacks, including slurs suggesting homosexuality and God-knows-what else. I think it was shameful that such behavior was apparently either condoned, or ignored by the moderators. And such tactics did nothing to rally support for Sarah, and did in fact (IMHO) diminish her appeal to many who were on the fence about a candidate.

Sarah has chosen not to run. I still think she represents some very solid conservative values. I was not convinced she had the experience necessary to serve as President. Of the 13 past Presidents (including 'Resident' 0bama-lama-ding-dong), Sarah's total executive experience exceeded only ONE of them, i.e., 0bama himself. Even Jimmy Carter had more executive (not to mention military) experience and yet we all remember how the Carter train wreck ended, and it wasn't pretty.

The answer to preventing future such cataclysmic political drama is to place our faith in our Constitution and our Republic, and focuse on candidates who "get it" and not only adhere, but revere what that precious Document stands for.
