Even a little superficial thought would show how insane this statement is. Is he the president of everything deplorable in the United States? Is he President of all the rapist, robbers, pedophiles, anarchists, sworn enemies of this country?
We compartmentalize and separate from us the worst in society that we deem unworthy of assimilating. It can be strongly argued that the President doesn't represent that, but repudiates it.
These witches represent the worst of the worst that our society is devolving into. They don't deserve a place at the table. The fact that we've given them a place indicates a grave sickness in our national identity.
Why would the fact that some adult people suffer from same-sex attraction necessarily mean that they were born with it? Your reasoning doesn’t make sense.
There are any number of genetic diseases that kill their victims at a very young age. By your logic those should have disappeared as well. As should conditions like autism, since very few people who suffer from that produce offspring.
Cain is right about this. There are no studies showing a genetic predisposition.
In fact, twins studies show evidence where when seprated at birth, one is gay the other is not.
Gays would love to find the Holy Grail that makes this something they have no control over.
Cain, should follow up and say that being gay is not an easy life style and that for the most part these are troubled people we all know this.
But this will virtually end his campaign because Romney and the others will climb all over him for it, and he will be taken out of text etc.
BUT WHAT HE SAYS IS TRUE..
Cain did a great job on The View, and he didn’t let Barbara Wawa get away with trying to redefine 999 as being tax regressive.
He is pretty media savvy. Sherry Shepard and Whoopi actually appeared to like him.

Anything crazy?
Not sure what you’re getting at.
I agree with you. Arguing that it would have been breed out is also ridiculous. If that were true, there would be no children with cancer or other deadly childhood diseases. Just because you don’t get the gene doesn’t mean you don’t carry it.
Having said that, I very seriously doubt it is 100% genetic. My bet would be for males it is 50% genetic and for females 1%.
Herman Cain asked someone to sho him the science to prove people are “born gay.”
There is none. Can you produce any? No.
For whatever reason, Cain’s campaign advisors believed this appearance would be helpful publicity. I’m inclined to agree, if not strongly. As long as Cain has the poise, being on a liberal show allows the customary viewers of such a show to see how a conservative reasoner addresses a liberal philosophy. Cain takes a risk, though, because if he bumbles the liberals will make mince meat of him.
IIRC, the best research, which follows identical twins separated at birth and their ultimate sexual behavior when grown, finds about a 50% correlation. If one is gay there is about a 50/50 chance the other will be too. One could find similar correlations regarding whether a person grows up to be an alcoholic. There is nature, nurture, and the mysterious thing sometimes called free will.
That’s not true. There are plenty of studies that show predisposition, including twin studies. What makes the activists upset is that it only accounts for a part of the selection, while an individual’s unique environment, including trauma and associations, has a greater effect.
It is wrong, however, to say there are no studies that show any role for genetic predisposition. You could probably find a genetic predisposition to like haggis, but the environment would have to be right to “trigger” the genes to activate.
So you are saying there are “gay” genes? Never heard that proven.
Links, please.
What I like is how he turned it around on the witches.
They were arguing their FAITH that people are born gay.
He demanded the SCIENCE, which they could not produce.
Your statement is not what I’ve seen attributed to Cain.
“Being gay is a choice . . .”
“. . . prove people are born gay.”
Those are two completely different issues. What the studies show(if they are accurate and can be trusted, you’re calling for the science, I’m not) is that genetics appears to play a role for men. It’s not the only factor, but it is *a* factor.
In his statement, it appears that genetics and random, non-self-selected experiences play *no* role in the determination. If one is to believe the studies, that is not the case. In your statement, genetics and all experiences may explain a person’s choice (and a very strong predisposition would make the choice very difficult). In his, only self-selected experiences explain it.
Ok I understand your point better now. Would you then discharge those who have come out under this new policy?
When you put body parts where they do not belong, bad things happen.
