The real question is why did he lie. What influence does this administration have over the man that he rather be subject to perjury charges and ruining his career then being honest and straightforward with congress?

Holder is a big progressive, from the Clinton administration, I think he was helping push a progressive agenda willingly. The law firm he came from did pro bono work for terrorists.

thread, Holder’s Dubious History

from Michelle Malkin
...note that AG nominee Holder is a senior partner with Covington & Burling, a prestigious Washington, D.C. law firm, which represents 17 Yemenis currently held at Gitmo.

He is used to dealing with the criminal element, he liked to represent them.

Holder brought many of his law firm attorneys and their ideology to the Department of Justice

link, 9 in the DOJ represented terrorists

Attorney General Eric Holder says nine Obama appointees in the Justice Department have represented or advocated for terrorist detainees before joining the Justice Department.

But he does not reveal any names beyond the two officials whose work has already been publicly reported. And all the lawyers, according to Holder, are eligible to work on general detainee matters, even if there are specific parts of some cases they cannot be involved in.

I would classify Mexican Drug Cartels as terrorists, in Fast and Furious. Holder needs to go along with all of his law firm friends.
