I think you are going WAYYYY out of your way to make this a bigger deal than it is. For that matter, a black student is also given the nod if their scores are good enough to enter college. I could use your argument and say that isn’t fair to whites either. And yet, in this example, it has nothing to do with instate tuition for undocumented hispanics. I just wish you would get beyond this issue and examine the broader picture.
I’m not in favor of giving black students preferences either. Like Thomas Sowell, I believe they are better off at schools that match their capability and skills level.
But they are (overwhelmingly) legal residents. No illegals are, and yet we’ve got even some of the same students who didn’t make the entrance, despite greater qualifications, having to subsidize their education.
What exactly is the larger picture that I’m missing? That pointing out the obvious situation here doesn’t help Perry in his bid to be our president?
