I 79 handles a large volume of traffic, especially trucks... much more so than that stretch of I 68. I 81 is also heavily travelled by trucks.

Not all that familiar with the southern part of the state.

It's been a while since I took that route. It involved taking 79 North from Charleston then cutting over East (not sure, maybe 70? But that may be going too far North) to get to Cumberland MD, then down 15 from Frederick MD through Point of Rocks MD and Leesburg VA.
