Were at a very strange juncture in the 2012 presidential contest. Rick Perry continues to struggle, as Mitt Romney savagely exploits his offensive-to-conservatives position on immigration and the Texan deals with new, potentially damaging revelations of a racially insensitive name for a hunting camp rented by his family. But Romneys not benefitting much in the polls, and he remains a persona non grata to many conservatives
[.....]
But if Christie doesnt answer the bell, is there any doubt a certain universally known, beloved-of-the-base politician will hear her name on the restless wind and give fresh consideration to the prospect of going rogue and running for president? Yes, this could be Sarah Palins moment to confound her critics, to send the GOP establishment types she hates even more than liberals into frantic hysteria, and most of all, to gain the attention she craves.

Is there any solid reason to believe Palin couldnt leap into the race in the first-in-the-nation caucus and become a serious competitor? Similarly, there is no way to anticipate how rank-and-file conservatives might react to the kind of mammoth, sustained news-cycle-dominating mockery and vilification Palin would immediately attract were she to finally take the plunge. At least initially, a Palin candidacy would all but blot out the sun.

when quinn the eskimo gets here, everyone will jump for joy!
Was Sarah waiting to see what Christie was going to do?
to gain the attention she cravesThat's bigger than "semi-barf".
I think Sarah said a while ago that she would run
if there were no real conservative candidate.
I too am baffled by the waiting, as I fully expect her
to run.
The feeding frenzy continues on a non-issue. As liberal Romney slinks to the nomination.
“to gain the attention she craves
That’s bigger than “semi-barf”.
For sure - it’s clear that she hates the attention.
I know all the arguments, I know all the reasons, I respect all the arguments, I understand all the reasons, but the fact is that her quitting the Alaska Governorship is a big, big, obstacle for her in the general election, and she is smart enough to know that, even though many of her most zealous supporters are not.
This is what’s causing her delay. Trying to figure out if there is a way around that obstacle. It’s a very big obstacle.
I love Sarah Palin but I’m not too stupid to see the obstacle for what it is: a big, fat, major wallopolooza of an obstacle.
Sarah Palin's problem is this. She quit less than one term as governor. That was three years before the presidential race. That is her number one problem with most folks I have talked to that would otherwise consider her.
I don't think she's running. If she is, I'll vote for her over Obama, or one on one against Romney if she runs, but that's about it. What will happen three years into her presidency with all the pressure and attacks from the media.
come on without, come on within.
Therefore, my reasoning has it that Sarah Palin's cleanup of corruption in Alaska will continue in Washingtom ... if Sarah is elected President.
I don't pray much, but this is worth praying for.
Palin has survived the crucible of the establishment media many times over. That’s quite a feat, not likely to be repeated. It would be a sensible strategy for her to wait for every other conservative candidate to get his turn being roasted and tossed aside, before she announced.
Sarah's accomplishments as governor of Alaska are memorable, and her dedication to the rest of America is vividly evident in her Tea Party activities.
I thik Sarah fleft the governor's job to set the stage for her entry in the Presidential race, and that she will run based on her opinion as to what's best for America.
To me, Sarah is clearly the best candidate we can hope for.
I will absolutely support her candidacy, from the moment she steps in. There’s nobody left. I started out liking Perry, and I still hold out some hope for him, but I don’t see how you can get from his debate performances to the WH. I just don’t see it.
I like Cain; I like him a lot. But I fear he will be crushed by a full media onslaught, an onslaught that won’t begin until after he got the nomination.
So I don’t see who else there is EXCEPT Palin. But I fear for her chances. And I know she fears for them, too. Hence her delay.
Goldwater, in your heart you know he is right.
“I love Sarah Palin but Im not too stupid to see the obstacle for what it is: a big, fat, major wallopolooza of an obstacle.”
There is even more. She also resigned from the Oil and Gas Commission. This is less known but would come to light if she ran. Two near back to back resignations is an insurmountable obstacle. She knows this made her unelectable.
True. It would blot out all other political news, boost Tina Fey's rather lame career, change the entire conversation on the election, and likely remove Obama from our White House. To the far left, that last point is like blotting out the sun.
I see a lot of similarity. Both very good people; both very strong conservatives.
