He missed a chance to take on the fatuous media and knock both the incidents out of the park. "I don't know all the facts about said rock and it's probably an overblown story attempting to play a spurious race card." "Who was booing the soldier? They were booing the STUPID QUESTION."
Opportunity blown. Somebody tell Herman he's being a PATSY.
IF you'd rather NOT be pinged FReepmail me.
IF you'd like to be added FReepmail me. Thanks.

He doesnt have a racist bone in his body, said former Democratic state Rep. Ron Wilson, who is black and served with Perry in his early years in the Legislature. He didnt then, and he doesnt now.
Still inadequate IMO.
Rush is right but it’ll make no difference to some. Waiting for the “Rush is a Perrybot, Rino, Republican insider” and I’ll never listen to him again comments.
On the long run, Perry is going to prevail over Cain. It’s better to be considered heartless than be considered a bigot.
Cain DEFENDED the audience on Amanpour, saying they were NOT booing the soldier but they were booing the repeal of the policy.
Rush did not play the part of the quote where Cain defended the audience.
That is a cataclismic revelation and certainly disqualifies Perry from becoming POTUS? I'm not a Perry fan, but this is certainly mind-boggling mega-BS obviously dug up be some guy who has to stand very, very close to the urinal.
Hopefully Cain learned a lesson from this. I liked Cain and I still do. It does however point out his lack of experience, which has been one of my few problems with him. This should have been a no-brainer. It was an amateurish mistake and it backfired as it should have.
Only sub 70 IQs hang on to this dead horse.
I have been studying this and taking what Cain said in context and have come to the conclusion that his response was a completely natural response based on the question asked him, and he was not purposely playing the race card, because he did say IF what youre saying is true
.
However he did fall for a clever media trap, and they got out of him exactly what they were hoping for, something that they could use against Perry, in a trumped up media blitz that was sure to follow. And also against Cain by making him appear to be using a race card, that will peel away many of his supporters.
There are a number of smart ways Cain could have responded, depending on how much, if any he even knew about the hunting club. A simple, Im not going to comment on that, I want to talk about whats important and left it at that, would have been appropriate. It would have not have killed the story however, the media was going to run with it at their own timing anyway, but it would have taken Cains name out of the story and we would not be talking about this now.
Falling prey to the media does not shake my support for Cain, no more than when Palin fell for Katie Courics trap. If it did, then all the candidates better cancel all media interviews from here on in, because their entrapment question awaits. What I will be doing though is watching how Cain handles this. Will he see that he has been duped and get himself out of it, or will he continue to make this an issue?
You know this will come up again at the next debate, both Cain and Perry better be waiting for it, and smartly with their answer make this a non issue, or better, turn it back on the back on the media, exposing them for the race baiters they are.
Except that Perry did not merely call the conservative base heartless, he also called them RACISTS (”don’t like the sound of their sound name”) for disagreeing with him on illegals.
Perry supporters accusing ANYONE of race-baiting is the height of hypocrisy.
to fix my typo what Perry said of his critics is they “don’t like the sound of their last name” referring to the illegals
Im stilling pulling for Cain but he learned a HARD lesson. He shouldnt have even commented, and if the story had any real legs it would have unfolded without him. Hes no Palin when it comes to working the media, but she has had a lot more trial by fire and experience.
The dems in Texas every time Perry ran...came up against the same problem...no dirt out there on Perry...so now, which we knew and Perry knew, they’d start making stuff up.
Cain’s most recent words about the word on the rock are much worse than inadequate; they’re dishonest. He did, in fact, attack Governor Perry. He accused him of racial insensitivity without any basis for doing so. He knows full well how explosive that charge is when leveled at a white Southerner. What he did was despicable and he can’t sweep it under the rug by claiming that he didn’t do it.
Cain’s only failing was taking the bait, and not properly handling this.
It shows a lack of experience in politics, but I’m not prepared to call him a race-baiter over this. I’d expect that a 65 year old black man, who LIVED DURING the civil rights movement, when told that a rival leased land that was called “n-word-head” would think it insensitive.
Cain was my #2 pick...when he lied about Perry regarding soft on border...he isn’t even on my list. So here we have this rock bs and the gay bs...so it’s more than the rock bs...he is laying out a clear path of being an establishment man. Endorsing Romney in ‘08 was the first hint of that track.
