quote “I think that’s very naive, because with politicians like Perry and Romney, you need to ignore their words and look at their records to see what they are going to do while in office. When one does that, both are clearly unacceptable.”

I would tend to agree with you on this statement, by how are we to judge Cain then? he has no record, so he has done nothing, all we can do is listen to what he says.

That's true and it is a problem for sure. He's not a career politician though, so in all fairness I'm willing to give a bit of leeway on that.

In my opinion, Cain hasn't put up any red flags that would make us question him as we would a Perry or Romney. Both of those guys have records of nothing BUT red flags.

That's rich. Who the hell are you again? What have you done to stop Slick Willard besides whining on Perry threads about how your precious one has been wronged?

I see you don't like it when someone tell you who you support. I am glad you learned a lesson. Don't do it to me again.

Second, I am actually defending both Perry and Cain. Both have been the victims of false attacks around here.

Just remember, the more we go after Perry or Cain, the closer Romney gets to the nomination. THAT is my point and the event I want to avoid.

So, instead of being a blowhard, look around you and see that we all share two common enemies --- Obama and Romney.

Supporting Rick Perry to stop Mitt Romney is like advocating to die of terminal cancer instead of a massive coronary. No thanks.

They're both career politicians that are going to change their colors and tell you whatever it is that you want to hear to get elected.

Ha! If this were so, Perry would never have said "heartless," he would not doubled-down on in-state tuition but back off it, he would've embraced the full wall with Mexico no matter how inefficient or ineffective.

Here's a newsflash for you: FR didn't stop taking members in 2007. It's just as important to keep Romney's record highlighted if not more so now in this campaign.

Backing off Romney because he's been vetted in a prior national campaign only helps Romney avoid scrutiny now. That's what the press does.

Go ahead and highlight his record. You’ll be doing it in an echo chamber, since advocating for Romney has been banned on FR.

But knock yourself out if that’s what you want to do. If you think it’s going to stop people from pointing out what a disaster Rick Perry is, you have another thing coming.

One group will do really well....the Mormon Protective Association (MPA) will see to that. Fire a Mormon and they will boycott your business. Give a Mormon a poor evaluation and you’ll get a call from a higher-ranking Mormon to change the evaluation or else.

It does to me. His record of cronyism and shady donor deals really isn’t overcome by what amounts to mainly lip service at election time when it comes to conservative principles... Even with that, I still don’t believe that the man has any core values whatsoever. Which, incidentally, is exactly the problem I have with Mitt Romney.

As your statement indicates, it must be cronyism because you deem that he has no core values, ergo he cannot decide on something based on his belief that is right or wrong. Any tangential connection that might possibly exist must be the reason for an action since you have invalidated any consideration of a decision based on belief or conviction.

Gardasil - a former staffer at Merk, not because he believes in the benefits and that it should be covered by insurance.

Lower property taxes - friends with big houses

Tort reform - He has friends in the insurance business

Investments by his blind trust - He was secretly telling the executor what to do.

Thwarting business taxes - His buddies own businesses.

Fighting the EPA - his buddies are in oil and gas.

I am sure I've missed dozens more cases where he did things that were good for Texas and Texans but only because he had cronys that benefited.

Even if I (strictly for the sake of argument) concede that Romney is a “loser liberal”, he is STILL light-years ahead of Obama.

Romney, for example, knows that:

(1) Muslims didn’t meet the Mayflower.
(2) the US does not have 57 states
(3) socialism has never worked anywhere, anytime.
(4) you can’t spend yourself out of debt.
(5) we elect Presidents, not tin-horn dictators.

>>oh! that's right! none of that matters, only rocks on deer leases and cancer vaccines matter!<<

No, there’s a couple more at least. Perry’s friendly association with Muslims.

“It is a great honor to be in the presence of the Imam of 16 million Muslims around the world, a global humanitarian leader, a man of peace with a pluralistic vision for people around the world, His Highness, the Aga Khan, the 49th Hereditary Imam of the Shia Imami Ismaili Muslims. Your Highness, on behalf of 23 million Texans, and over 600,000 thousand Muslims living in Texas, I extend our heartfelt appreciation for your 50 years of great international leadership. We are delighted to welcome you to the Lone Star State and participate in the celebration of your Golden Jubilee. I am also grateful to the many federal, state and local leaders in attendance tonight. By their presence, these special guests convey the profound respect that exists in the Western World for His Highness’ work and leadership.”

How about bringing Muslim into our schools to bring the Muslim mind set into mainstream thinking?

From the Memorandum of Understanding between The University of Texas at Austin and The Aga Khan University. http://www.scribd.com/doc/62191791/Mou-Ut-Aku-Signed-Copy

Then there is the whole issue of the TTC (Trans Texas Corridor) and how it fits into the North American Union and the crony capitalism involved.
