Washington Post Now Literally Looking Under Rocks in West Texas to Find Dirt on Perry

Bryan Preston

October 2, 2011

Seriously. Here’s the Post story, which once you get past all the history they try packing into it that has nothing at all to do with Rick Perry, is about a hunting lease that Gov. Perry’s family used, and which once had an offensive name that his family did not give it, but which was unfortunately somewhat common once upon a time. Once Perry’s family leased it, they painted over a rock with the offensive name on it to cover it up, and eventually turned the rock over to cover it further. So the Post has devoted its resources and space to tell the world about…a rock way out in West Texas.

Perry’s campaign disputes much of the detail in the Post story.

“A number of claims made in the story are incorrect, inconsistent, and anonymous, including the implication that Rick Perry brought groups to the lease when the word on the rock was still visible,” Sullivan said. “The one consistent fact in the story is that the word on a rock was painted over and obscured many years ago.

“Perry’s father painted over offensive language on a rock soon after leasing the 1,000-acre parcel in the early 1980s. When Governor Perry was party to the hunting lease from 1997 to 2007, the property was described as northern pasture. He has not been to the property since 2006.”

Sullivan also specified that the family has never “owned, controlled or managed” the property.

Just so we’re all clear, a hunting lease isn’t property you own or really have any meaningful control over. You lease it for hunting, and only visit it periodically. For hunting.

The Post knows all too well how this game is played. The original story will get major play, and while the follow up and its own climbdown will attract less attention, a lot of dust gets stirred up and most of it ends up on the Post’s target, in this case, Perry. What’s left in the mind of those who don’t follow the facts is that Perry is somehow associated with racism.

The Post, which ran dozens of stories over a single word in 2006 to sink George Allen, can be expected to stretch out this non-story about an old rock for the next year and a half. Just when Perry starts making a move in the polls or lands a solid punch on Obama, out will come some new revelation about the stupid rock in West Texas. It’s what they do.

What do you expect from the Obama A-kissers.

This is minor compared to what they have planned for Romney.

“It was reassuring to learn that the president loves his country more than he cares about his own political ambitions, though the implication didn’t quite square with an observation a week earlier from a White House strategist who said, “Unless things change and Obama can run on accomplishments, he will have to kill Romney.”

We all knew this would happen.
As much as I like Herman Cain its quite possible something totally harmless from his past will be used against him and the stooopid morons that believe in the MSM deities will swallow the gob of hate spit like it was the finest wine and they will feel comfort with a unified hate-march against Cain.

mark my words.

Touring Rick Perry’s hometown

The small Texas town of Paint Creek has no post office, no grocery store, and no claim to fame - until now. Dean Reynolds takes a tour of Paint Creek, the town where Republican presidential hopeful Rick Perry grew up. (Sept. 19) (CBS News)

"If only they would look under Barack Hussein Obama’s rocks.

The simple solution, which the GOP candidates will never use, is to refuse to answer all these dirt-digging questions and allegations until the MSM catches up on Obozo's backlog. They have had about 4 years to work through the list which they never do. Simply respond along the lines of "have you asked Barry about ....? When you do that, I will answer your question."

And why am I wrong in criticizing the WaPo for using improper language?

If he can’t fend off these attacks like a Palin then he won’t do us any good as a president.

Lets put politics aside and never forget what a low down article this is, by the Washington Post.
Lets never forget this dirty, useless article.
I have not come close to deciding who I will vote for, I will however, decide what I think of the Washing Post for an article with no truth and no substance. Though Perry was a democrat at the time, I trust him far more than anything this fish wrap post would publish. They remind me of the recent book on Palin, BIG STORY—NO FACTS.
I am a 76 young grandma and I hate fabricated stories that are intended to hurt people, no matter the color, no matter their politics.

I don’t doubt it for a second. Anybody not Obama will get the treatment if they’re percieved to be the slightest threat to the chosen one. American Journalism at it’s most hideous.

Excellent idea. I so wish they would do it. Refuse to answer until BO does.

Does Obama even have a hometown? I have never heard of it. His presidential library will have to be in Kenya.

Well, one thing is going to happen for sure. Every Republican running will turn out to be RACISTS, regardless of race, creed, nationality, or color. If a half black, half white, half hispanic person runs, then they will be anti-woman or anti-Jewish. Just wait and see.

I didn't say you were wrong. But just to clarify, Washington Post Now Literally Looking Under Rocks in West Texas to Find Dirt on Perry is a PajamasMedia headline.

EXACTLY! How much longer are we to allow lies to be told against us without retaliation? Clarifying the lie accomplishes NOTHING; it only makes the clarifier look more guilty. It is way past time to hit back and hit back HARD.

They tell a lie; don’t say they mispoke - call them a liar.

What do the Washington Post and Al Sharpton have to say for themselves.

Pure Alinsky

I agree with you. This isn't about politics, it's about the Washington Post and their smear machine. It doesn't matter what any of us may think of Rick Perry, if the Post can get away with doing this to Perry, they'll do it to anybody. What a trash newspaper.
