Maybe you'd like to quote exactly where you got that idea... Other than anti-semetic web sites and books. Altruism, possibly, collectivists, absolutely not. The concept of "Tikkun Olam" (heal the world) has been bastardized by hard core leftists. There is a lot in the Jewish tradition to perform charitable acts, but it's a PERSONAL OBLIGATION, not an obligation placed on others. And it's up to the individual to decide whether to perform charitable acts or not.
The Biblical concept of "my brothers keeper" is "I am my brother's keeper," but NOT "you are my brother's keeper too."
And the statement that "Israel is a socialist, collectivist country" has NOTHING to do with being Jewish. It's because there's a long tradition of socialism and collectivism in Europe, especially among the educational elite, and that's where the majority of the founders of Israel came from.

I could add that the Hebrew phrase "tikkun olam" (heal the world) could have thousands of possible meanings and applications. It is only used once in the entire Talmud, and that in an entirely different context compared to the one that some leftist Jews commonly use today.
