Texas Gov. Rick Perry is defending his policy of allowing tuition assistance for illegal immigrants at state colleges and universities, saying the lack of a cohesive federal immigration policy forced his hand.

Thanks.
If I remember correctly, it was Mark Steyn who I first heard make this point.
It would seem even Obama could put an (R) next to his name as some people would switch to supporting him. They treat politics like it is an 8th grade school girl popularity contest.
This is why LIBERALS like to keep the issue “hot.”
You’re projecting this in-state tuition for a fraction of Texas students brought to the U.S. and using a photo of radicalized leftists, to create a false analogy.
But that’s what community organizers do. Who are you organizing for — I can see who you’re organizing against.
Its what I've been saying since the CNN debate. Perry is not defending himself and needs to, quickly. He's allowed this specific issue to get the upperhand and become his albatross. It shouldn't be.
You are the one who is the Community Organizer for Perry. Why, we don’t know, but you support him like he is your spouse. Sorry, but Perry is a loser and will not get any conservative votes.
The point you seem to be missing is that it’s not like we’re sending them to outer darkness. If those illegals feel that strong about becoming a citizen which would entail all the rights of a citizen, they can simply get in line & do it the RIGHT way. Kind of like all our forefathers did.
Just another point worth mentioning. If these illegals end up getting educated & ultimately enter the work force, what kind of employees/owners will they end up being? Ones that learned up front how to cheat the system, how to lie & not get caught, how to make a mockery of our system? Sounds really compassionate to me /s.
How about we spend just a little more time worrying about how we treat our own citizens who want to go to college & work legally here. With all the unemployment out there, wouldn’t it be better to fill those slots w/ US citizens rather then w/ those taught to cheat the system that are not of our country?
“This is why LIBERALS like to keep the issue hot.”
So, you call preventing illegal aliens from getting US taxpyer money and Perry’s Trans-Texas corridor a LIBERAL issue? Damned straight we are beating Perry up over his own actions. He is no conservative, therefore, neither are you for supporting him.
You got that right! There are a number of posters who have ‘collected’ nearly the whole set...and fight to the death for every candidate they back, slamming any and all who oppose their current choice...then get a new candidate, forget the past, rinse and repeat. Many are the Perry Supporters we now see...and some already jumped to Cain!
I do not see how the word ‘conservative’ fits into that mindset, nor why they post on FR with that kind of courage of their ‘convictions.’ They need to be called on it. Often.
I’m sorry, I am not mad at you, I am frustrated.
I posted links to the Gret Van Susteren interviews when the immigration controversy started. They give a good picture of the situation. Do you think anyone paid attention? It appears that people only want to believe what they want to believe and the hell with the facts.
Maybe they have to show a special card to buy food. Yep, that’s the ticket!
It’s true. When people take an issue (pick anyone) and for one it’s a deal breaker but for another, “they should be given credit for tackling it or bringing it up,” it’s pretty clear what their motivation is.
Peace, brother! ;^)
Politics has a way of frustrating the best conservatives.
Governor Perry has put forth a solution but you either won’t listen or you are pretending you did not hear it. That makes you either an ill-informed instigator or an instigater with alterior motives.
During one debate she was asked twice about deportation and 2 times she deflected the question. So she’s answered that. She won’t
**************************
Yes, and she had a mini presser with Sheriff Joe Arpaio and when asked what she would do with all the undocumented workers...
Michele: “Well of course what we need to do is first secure the borders. So this is a sequence issue. So we need to deal with that issue first, then deal with all the inducements that are out there and from there we’ll move on from there.”
She will NOT answer that question. No way, no how.
I agree with you on the amnesty. Regardless of Perry’s support of that bill he has clearly stated over and over that the states should decide on this themselves. Texas decided on it along with (I am told) 16 other states (I have not taken my own advice and researched this myself, so don’t take that as fact). If we all stay engaged in what is going on, these bills wouldn’t see the light of day. I don’t believe it is a deal breaker with Perry though, aleast it is not for me. In the last few days I have watched nearly two hours worth of video of Perry talking about nothing but immigration issues from different sources and times and his step-by-step plan (his plan has stayed consistent) for securing the border makes a great deal of sense.
We really do agree on amnesty, I just disagree that this is the end of Perry’s campaign. ;)
Should illegal aliens be given any financial/education/legal or other assistance short of a quick ride back to the border? Answer Yes or no please because anything else is just liberal ‘nuance’.
Yes or no?
Should there be a full REAL and patrolled fence from Texas to California?
Yes or no?
Does Rick Perry agree with the above?
Yes or no?
That’s the only thing that matters and the only questions his supporters should need to be asked because their answers will tell any American all they need to know about who they really support.
Say that to the citizens of Texas who put forth the policy through their representatives. I bet if your favorite candidate were the governor of a border state like Texas; with its 1200 mile border, you would be jumping down his back for his immigration policy.
The solution to all your listed sins is to seal the border. If you think that won’t solve it, you need to be doing some serious thinking.

I think you’re addressing the wrong person. I never said I’m against sealing the border. I’m for it.
If anything I said was misconstrued that way, then I communicated poorly. Let the record stand corrected. ;-)
