Yup that guy with the gun at your back forcing you to use a debit card has got to go.
there is.....become a member of a Credit Union.
You can pull you money from banks and move it to a local credit union. Also pay everything you can in cash.
Sure is something we can do about it. Stop using them. I use my debit card in lieu of cash because it is convenient. If the bank starts to charge a monthly fee, it will no longer be convenient. I’ll move to a bank closer to my home, and go back to cash.
“Eventually all banks will follow. Not a damn thing we can do about it.”
I’m not so sure about that. I think competition among banks is alive and well, at least in some parts of the country. In my smallish burg in Colorado, there must be at least a dozen different banks doing business here, and that’s not counting branches, which seem like there must be one on every block. The only really big boy here is Chase, and so far, they haven’t started to nickel and dime their customers to death, which may have something to do with the other eleven smaller banks in town just waiting to snap up any disgruntled customers.
If people would vote with their feet and desert BofA by the millions, BofA would drop the ripoff fees and no other banks would attempt it, having seen the meltdown at BofA. I suspect BofA is the leader here because they are stupid, desperate and arrogant, which is a truly deadly combination.
