Texas Rep. Ron Paul is the most enigmatic figure in the Republican race for president.
On the one hand, his call for fiscal austerity resounds with tea party-affiliated primary voters. On the other, his views on foreign policy including the idea that America all but incited the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11 are decidedly less popular.
Theres no disputing that Paul has a loyal and relatively large following. (Witness his near-win in the Ames Straw Poll last month.)
But, weve often wondered just how many Paul-ites are actually Republicans. New data from the Washington Post-ABC News poll suggests that its not all that many.
Overall, 25 percent of the American public views the Texas Congressman favorably while 27 percent see him in an unfavorable light. Of the 25 percent of people who regard Paul favorably, roughly two-thirds dont identify themselves as Republicans.

The correct term is "Paulestinians".
Paulbots... the new Rouchies. Soon to be setting up tables and spewing conspiracy theories at a DMV near you!
Rumor is that Paul is being encouraged by Dems to run third-party, which could surely get Barry0 re-elected.
Scary thought.

The question is whether Paul is patriotic enough to swallow his ego and resist the temptation.
The nightmare scenario would be Paul and Trump forming an “indie” ticket. There’d be no need for the GOP to campaign, because the election be a landslide lock for Obama.
Interesting point. Paul seems to win, place or show at some straw polls, but when the real voting starts, he's where he began... low single digits.
(Witness Paultards spamming the Ames Straw Poll last month.)
There, fixed it.
The FOX Poll yesterday had him at 6%, not even half of Romney, Perry and Cain polled.
The only person I ever knew personally who liked Paul was a guy who was a drunk, pot smoking and immature, counter-culture loser who at 30, still liked fighting in bars.
The 70’s is alive and well in some people.

I think he would pull more away from Obama than the republican candidate.
The college kids and hippy types who want pot legalized, they helped Obama much in the last election.
The anti war/peace types.
Being pro-life is becoming the larger belief, so that doesn’t turn away the younger crowd on the left.
Ron Paul in not any more trouble to the gay marriage supportes than Obama.
