“n Mitt Romney’s case, his oath of office has already been sworn in a sacred LDS Temple ceremony. That oath is to the Mormon Plan for America, and it will supersede any oath of office as President.”

Every once in a while, the mask slips off and the true intent shows through. See above.

Frum's arguments aren't wrong. Romney is better positioned to deflect easy criticism and make his fiscal case in the general.

Unfortunately for Romney he has a credibility gap with the base. He will not inspire turn out.

Perry could be a good president but I don't see him getting there.

Romney fans will argue he wants the full fence and vetoed in-state tuition.

They'll ignore his support for comprehensive immigration reform and his own proposal to side step specific in-state tuition with a blanket waiver of tuition for the top 25% state test scorers.

They'll just say he's changed.

Of course, IF (big if) Romney were nominated and elected, then we would face the fact that he would have to WANT to make the right changes. The father of Romneycare cannot be trusted to be the terminator of Obamacare. He cannot be trusted to be pro-life. He CAN be trusted to be anti-family as he was when he welcomed the Taxachusetts Supreme Judicial Court inventing state-recorded perversion arrangements as "marriage" in the Bay State. He can be trusted to appoint Larry Lavender and Barbara Babyscraper and Chris Constitutionscrapper to SCOTUS. I have no doubt that Romney's ambition is to be Gordon Gecko in the White House since, other than an obsession with money, he has no discernible principles whatsoever.

Mittens is a fellow who learned much from his dad who ended his political career whining about having been brainwashed on Vietnam. Most folks observing George Romney wondered just what on earth did the brain laundry find to wash. Mitt is just a bit more careful than Dad but not much brighter.

George Herbert Walker Bush who appointed Swish Souter to SCOTUS, and Planned Barrenhood Babs are pushing Christy at the moment but you can count on them to back Mittens when push comes to shove. They are only trying Christy because even they know Mittens has a glass jaw but, at the end, they will hope on behalf of the witless elitists that he might get lucky. If Dorothy Parker were still with us, she would observe as to Mittens' brain pan and backbone that there is no there there.

Daniels told CPAC this year that we should put aside social issues altogether because of the money, money, money obsession. That ended his POTUS chances and he does absolutely nothing to balance a ticket with Mittens. Rubio is another story. Hopefully, if Mittens calls, he will have the dignity to laugh in derision.

BTW, early in his career, Frum wrote a deep root canal book advocating sharp tax increases. He is sooooo obviously Canadian and loves Obamacare. He is just another David Brooks.

Has the conservative movement degenerated to the point that what counts is the ability to make the trains run on time???? Can the name Romney EVER be attached to anything legitimately labeled conservative? No. The GOP is the GOP of Ronald Reagan, substantially enhanced by the social and military conservative "Reagan Democrats." May it never again be the party of Nelson Rockefeller, George Romney, Charles Mathias, Herbert Hoover, UpChuck Percy, or Lowell Weicker. Also, may it soon not be the party of Robert Dole, Gerald Ford, George Herbert Walker Bush (the elder one), Henry Kissinger, Richard Nixon, etc.

Reagan was supposed to be just too, too, well, extreme, to be elected but somehow, he took close 90 states out of 100 in two elections by ignoring the elite in favor of the Reagan Democrats. He took Bush the Elder on board to shut him up and to keep an eye on him. That was his method for choosing Robert Finch as his first Lt. Governor in California. Trust but verify but, when trust is just impossible, at least verify.

I’ll definitely vote for Romney if it’s Romney and Obama. I’d rather take a chance on Romney destroying the country than the Obama sure thing.

That’s what Romney is counting on.

I don’t believe there’s been a more dangerous group in the Whitehouse since this country began. Any opportunity to dislodge them must be seized. Any.

That’s a legitimate position. We could hope for a conservative house and senate to pressure a Romney into doing the right thing maybe and Obama must be stopped.

But this also the best chance in history to elect a true conservative who will reverse, not slow down, the destruction of America. A Romney win ends that chance, maybe forever.

Let’s hope neither of us have to make the choice!
