FRAMINGHAM - The uncle of President Obama did not speak today when he appeared in district court for a routine hearing on a drunken driving charge.
In a hearing that lasted just about two minutes, the attorney for Onyango Obama and Middlesex prosecutors agreed to continue the case until Nov. 17. Obama, a 67-year-old Framingham resident was arrested by Framingham police Aug. 24 on drunken driving and other charges. Obama has pleaded not guilty. Framingham District Court Judge Robert V. Greco released him on personal recognizance today.
Before his case was called, Obama sat quietly in the front row of the courtroom. When his turn came to address the judge, he stood next to his attorney, Scott Bratton, with his hands clasped in front of him.
No description of the circumstances of his arrest was provided in court today. Obama and Bratton left the courthouse without speaking to reporters. The two men boarded a black SUV and drove off.
Following his arrest, Obama was taken into custody on an immigration detainer, but he was released Sept. 9 by the Bureau of US Immigration and Customs Enforcement without a public explanation of the agencys decision. A spokesman told the Globe at the time that federal privacy laws ban officials from discussing individual cases.
Onyango Obama was the half-brother of the presidents late father. At the time of his arrest, Obama allegedly told Framingham police, I think I will call the White House to arrange bail.
Onyango Obama was ordered by immigration authorities in 1992 to return to his native Kenya. records show.

The only thing “unexpected” about this is that he showed up in court.

Any immigrant who can’t promptly produce evidence that he has a legal right to be here should be deported to his place of origin. The burden of proof should be on him. Start with this one.

I heard somebody on the news yesterday say that the idea was that if they were in the country illegally, they could stay as long as they didn’t break any laws. Silly me, I thought that being in the country illegally WAS BREAKING THE LAW!

The Boston Herald reassures us that Barack Obamas illegal alien uncle, Onyango Obama, is not letting Americas feeble attempt to briefly consider enforcing its fraud, immigration, and drunk-driving laws get him down: A giggling Onyango Obama -- the presidents illegal alien half uncle -- made a brief appearance in Framingham District Court today on charges he was drunk when he nearly struck an unmarked police cruiser last month. Obama, 67, was visibly amused at the media spectacle, stifling laughter several times before his 30-second court appearance where a judge set a Nov. 17 pre-trial conference. Well, at least the old boy remains in high spirits. Speaking of which, hes back on the job selling spirits, presumably with his phony Social Security Number and drivers license in hand. His attorney, P. Scott Bratton, did, however, tell the Herald that Obama, who has been living illegally in the United States for nearly 20 years, has returned to work at Conti Liquors in Framingham. "He has. Hes doing well," Bratton said. Im sure every legal citizen who has unsuccessfully applied for work at Obamas liquor store will be relieved to know hes getting by. Maybe hell even earn enough to pay the four thousand dollars in back taxes hes been evading for the last 24 years! Listen to your nephew, Omar its time to pay your fair share. As for that pesky deportation business, fear not. The Herald tells us immigration officials have ordered him to check in with them. Well, that takes care of that! You can slip into Hotel America any time you want, and stay forever, as long as you check in with the concierge sometime in the first thirty years. Omars not totally out of the legal woods yet. Identity fraud, tax evasion, and immigration violations may be laughable trivia, but the local D.A. has vowed to prosecute Obama to the fullest extent possible for his drunk driving shenanigans. That could end with Uncle Omar being forced to pick up a new drivers license in the parking lot of the local 7-11. The really sad part of the story is that Uncle Omars threatened call to the White House apparently went to his boss at the liquor store instead. In other words, this travesty is happening without political intervention. This is the default behavior of the same massive government, from local to federal levels, which insists you need to give it more money to work its wonders. Unless youre an illegal alien, in which case you can feel free to skate on those taxes, and maybe even cash in on the $4.2 billion in fraudulent tax credits dished out by the IRS. Does anyone know if Onyango Obama has collected one of those? http://www.humanevents.com/article.php?id=46525 This sounds more like it..
