After months of hedging, New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie is giving serious thought to jumping into the ring for a GOP presidential run -- and could make his decision next week, The Post has learned.
The announcement may come as soon as Monday, said sources familiar with Christies thinking.
The renewed consideration about a White House run came after prodding this week from some Republicans he idolizes, including former First Lady Nancy Reagan, former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger, and former President George W. Bush, sources said.

Christie pals said the pols mind-blowing experience at the Reagan library in California Tuesday changed his thinking.
We need you. Your country needs you to run for president, one woman pleaded after Christies moving speech there.
Yet when the governor first arrived at the Reagan library, he was still telling his inner circle he was a definite no for a presidential run -- and planned to make that clear in his appearance.
Something changed that night, sources said.

Hate them both! I was born in NJ, but I would never go back there. The politics are awful, the hoplophobia is rampant, and the overall atmosphere up there is too uptight.
Give me a slow-talking southern black man for my President!
Christie is too fat to be president. He is very, very fat. I like him as governor of New Jersey. He is a fabulous governor of New Jersey. He is a very conservative governorof New Jersey.
But New Jersey ain’t the whole country... he’s not conservative enough for the whole country.
And he’s too fat.
Put forward a credible, competent, experienced staunch conservative, then. I don't see any.
This was all pre-planned by the RINOstablishment I bet
Sarah never said Yes or NO....just thinking about it. The media wants her to give them an answer on their timetable not hers. Christie said no but teases that he might jump in through aides
Christie is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO FULL of himself he makes me sick. And being full of “himself”, now that is FULL!
You sound like a high school girl.
Governor, just go back to your state. You know, the one that years of democrats made into a huge crapfest. Go back and finish cleaning it up and making it better and then, maybe, consider running if you can shed your rino leaning image.
While you’re at it drag mitt the twit and rick epic fail perry with you.
This battle to preserve the Constitution and the Republic is too dire to take a chance on any one of several play-to-the-audience conservatives who would say whatever they think will impress their current audience.
Well hell, lets get Rick Snyder to run too. He’s a liberal but he’s killing the teacher’s union in Michigan. (actually he’s signing legislation sent to his desk)
This crap is getting old.
Enough already! Front page headline in this morning’s local Gannett newsrag 1ssue-
Insider: Gov not running in 2012
Sorry he is not conservative and any Freeper worth his salt knows this. Conservative Leadership has nothing to do with compromise. Obama even understands this I said: “I won deal with it.” Who is backing Christie? The elite media and political class? Who is backing Cain and Palin? We The People right? Who is backing Romney almost no one on this site right? Who is backing Perry big money folks right? It is a battle between the elites and We The People simple as that. Obama is irrelevant he cannot win he is toast. I want a We The People President color me patroitic and ready to battle as one of We The People.
‘And he’s too fat.’
______________
Heard on Fox the other day he’s around 300 lbs or more.
Okay...I’m just gonna say it.
S*&t or get off the pot!
Sorry, but it was the first thought that came to mind.
Governor Krispy Kreme was unavailable for comment!
Governor Krispy Kreme was unavailable for comment!
Illinois too. At least 3,000, no more than 5,000.
-- In the end it's a hard delegate count that wins. All the strategy in the world isn't going to change that. It's time for everyone to crap or get off the pot. --
If FL goes early, it loses half of its delegates. There is LOTS of party strategy involved in obtaining the nomination, and of course, "insiders" have advantages of preferred access, know the rules, control the rules, etc.
I disagree that a serious contender has to have declared by now, or "it's time" [now] to declare. There is at least a month of cushion, and maybe more. Election politics can be very volatile.
How fat is he?
This points to nothing except the total brainless irresponsibility of the gossiping whores that constiute the media.
But New Jersey aint the whole country... hes not conservative enough for the whole country.
And hes too fat.
