What a load of crap.
>> Stated another way, only 1 percent of Texas illegal immigrants got the in-state rates in 2010. And of those, 73 percent got an average reduction of $2,600 or less; the remaining 27 percent average closer to $10,000 per year. <<
What only 1% got tuition breaks? Yes, because only one percent started college. Is there a soul around who believed Romney meant that those not going to college got tuition breaks for not going to college? YET THIS LYING CRAP would leave most people to believe that 99% of Illegal immigrants were denied tuition benefits, when none were.
Romney said “at the University of Texas,” because he meant “at the University of Texas.” The fact that less valued Texas universities have lower out-of-state tuition rates hardly changes Romney’s math.
>> So lets return to Romneys statement: “Four years of college, almost $100,000 discount if you are an illegal alien (and) go to the University of Texas.”
For the 612 affidavit students at the University of Texas last year, Romneys figure of $22,000 per year is approximately correct, even a bit low; but quadrupling the real average adds up to $90,800 over four years, not $100,000. <<
Romney’s 100% accurate. Most college students do not graduate in four years flat. Romney said, “average.”
>> The vast majority of affidavit students in Texas last year got an average in-state tuition reduction of $1,600 to $2,600. If they got that rate for four years, the total “discount” would be $6,400 to $10,400. And that group of 12,028 community college affidavit students made up less than 1 percent of the 1,364,911 college students enrolled in Texas last year. <<
Once again, Romney was plain that he was referring to the University of Texas, not local community colleges; not a soul in the room expects that Romney meant local community colleges.
KNOCK OFF THE CRAP!!! I CAN’T BELIEVE PERRY’S RADICAL LEFT-WING DEFENDERS AT THE AUSTIN STATESMAN HAVE ME DEFENDING ROMNEY!!!!!!!
That’s me the “crap” peddler.
LOL
You certainly have a high tolerance for spin from the Romney camp.
You defend Romney when Perry has done more as Governor to secure the U.S./Mexico border than all the candidates and Palin combined. They don't go to the border except as a photo op. They have no idea what is going on there. They are completely ignorant of the situation and have done absolutely nothing to secure it. Perry and Texas has in money and man power. Not Border Patrol, Texas law enforcement, Texas Ranger units, Texas National Guard, even having firefights with drug cartels cross border. But you don't care because Palin is gonna rub powder on your hynie and tell you she is gonna make everything better.
Just so ya know, some of us understood that you aren’t in the Romney camp, just saying what he said about Perry in this case was true.
The Perry camp should contact the McCain campaign and see if ‘Better than Romney’ is available to use...it worked so well for them...and us...
BS, you are entitled to your opinion but not to YOUR facts.
CW is exactly correct.
Amazing how all you Perry haters get so pissed off when you are faced with the truth and not some jingoistic sound bite you got form some NSM blurb.
