Students who meet the criteria but aren’t U.S. citizens yet must file a statement that they intend to seek legal status.
Students who are here illegally should be deported and sent to the back of the line, not given a college education.
The feds wont send them back and the States cannot do so. Now what do you do?
The irony is under current immigration law if people here illegally wish to become citizens they MUST return to their country first... So if the students do seek legal status they will not be here to attend school.
What point is there arguing about what SHOULD happen. Let's deal with reality. They are not going to be deported. Not ONE candidate or maybe candidate has advocated mass deportations.
The United States Supreme Court as ruled that all states MUST educated children of illegals through high school. And only one state in the union bars illegals from enrolling in college and that state is South Carolina. Forty-four states allow illegals to pay in-state tuition.
Texas rules are now HARDER than they were before.
