I've known that for quite some time. We've gone around with this Perry v immigration issue enough. Guess we can agree to disagree. On my other 4 issues, Perry is still a solid conservative -- pro military, pro limited govt, pro lower taxes and pro-life --- and should he be fortunate enough to win the nomination, will get my vote versus Obama.

Me too. My guess is Palin won McCain many additional votes that he wouldn't have received otherwise if he chose Lieberman. Which I heard was his second choice.
Did you see the latest poll out of Florida? Romney now leads Perry, no bump for Cain. Saturdays straw-poll was a protest vote after all.
Re: Lieberman. I recall hearing that Lieberman was actually McCain’s first choice for VP. Even some of the establishment types told him that wouldn’t fly and would be alienating to the base to the nth degree. Had he done so, McCain would’ve lost by an even wider margin in the general. Conservatives would’ve sat out the race and Lieberman wouldn’t have helped one whit with getting disgruntled Dems.
