A few extremist sects of Jews unfortunately are known for aping the “rocky” habits of their Ishmael-bred brethren. The Modern Orthodox as a rule don’t go for this, but a few Hasidim, whose interpretation of the religion is more “charismatic” in flavor, and who tend to fanatically celebrate individual rabbis, do.
That’s why I was curious to see the dust settle over this and some investigation happen.
The very few Hasidim in Meah Shearim who stone automobiles driving through their neighborhood on Saturday have never killed anyone, I’m sure don’t want to, and do it more as a deterrent than as a calculated attempt to harm anyone. Furthermore, the main group that does this, the Neturei Karta, are very pro-Arab and want to be part of the putative Palestinian State. I don’t think these were students from a Meah Shearim yeshiva anyway. Name of the institution is wrong.
