To my recollection, a true running quarterback has never won the big prize. Also, Vick was a flawed quarterback and the idea he can be trained to become a brilliant quarterback probably is wishful thinking.
Vick would have plenty of sympathy for his injuries but complaining that he doesn’t get late hit calls (while saying he wasn’t complaining) struck me as a big mistake.
I’m not a Vick hater and I yell at the over the top OMG Vick killed a dog he should die! Freepers, however I think the Eagles have major egg on their faces this year.
The whole Vick thing is exciting, interesting, he’s a great athlete, but relying on him to bring a Super Bowl seems to run against football history. Also seems he gets injured every game.
“To my recollection, a true running quarterback has never won the big prize.”
Steve Young, SF 49ers, 1994 SB Champions.
Michael Vick is not a QB; he’s a running back that throws the football.
Steve Young also won the SB MVP for that game.
...”OMG Vick killed a dog he should die!” I’m afraid he did much more damage than kill one dog. Many, many animals needlessly suffered and died because of him.
Good point.
The Eagles really were relying on him in a big way, because he was really the engine of the team. Remember that amazing playoff game against the Giants last year? That mind-boggling comeback was ALL Michael Vick.
I don't like Vick anymore than anyone else, and share the criticism that he's not a "real" quarterback. That said, he is a phenomenal athlete and I think without him the Eagles might as well kiss their season goodbye.
