Awwwww, poor Michael. Karma. At least they didn't lift him up and slam him down on concrete or electrocute him. Yes, he paid the price set by the court, but gee, I guess I'll be judgmental and say that price was not nearly enough. He gets no sympathy from me. For money and thrills, he tortured some of God's helpless creatures. Yes, I believe in redemption. Maybe he will earn that by showing kindness and saving animals for the rest of his life. A short time in the slammer doesn't do it.
NOTE: if Canty really did pull a deliberate dirty play and try to cause an injury, the NFL should sit him down for a year. I don't condone that, even against Vick.

Life is tough on running quarterbacks in the pros. I’m surprised he lasted this long.

He’s been complaining all year that the refs don’t call roughing the passer when he is the passer. I wonder what percentage of NFL refs are dog lovers.

Those years in prison did not seem to tough him up.

By his own rules if he aint tough enough to play/fight perhaps he needs to be euthanized

NOTE: if Canty really did pull a deliberate dirty play and try to cause an injury, the NFL should sit him down for a year. Nonsense. Late hits happen multiple times per game in the NFL. And I saw this particular hit -- it wasn't anything out of the ordinary. At most, Canty and the Giants should've been charged with a 15 yard personal foul penalty. But it was boderline, so I have no problem with no flag being thrown at all.

Maybe they should get a good offensive line that keeps him from getting hit so much.

By his own rules if he aint tough enough to play/fight perhaps he needs to be euthanized His coaches failed to "steal" smaller players from other teams to "blood" him. That would have made him meaner. I guess it's time to either body slam him or shock him to death with an electrical cord.

I didn’t see the play and modified my comment with an “IF.” I agree that penalties are the proper punishment for most late hits. My point was that, if someone tries to deliberately injure someone, far greater punishment is deserved than a 15-yarder. I don’t suspect that such is the case here. Hope that clarifies it.

Maybe they should get a good offensive line that keeps him from getting hit so much. The problem rests as much, or more, with Vick as it does with the offensive line.
The best NFL quarterbacks are the ones who make the right decisions quickly, get the ball out of their hands quickly, and consistently throw very accurate passes.
Vick does none of these things well. His strength is using his athleticism to extend out plays and allowing his receivers to get open. It's a recipe for hitting some big plays, but it's also a recipe for getting carted off the field a lot.
Vick is a great athlete, but he is simply not a great quarterback in the way that guys like Peyton Manning, Brady, Brees, and Rodgers are.

I always felt that they should apply the rule that if a player commits two personal fouls in game, they should be immediately tossed from the game, and suspended for the next one.

Sorry. I almost always do a check before I post. I apparently screwed up and didn’t check this time. Vick could not have three broken hands but a dog in his charge could have had three broken paws.

Imagine the commentary if this had happened in the Dog Pound of Cleveland.

It's often difficult to determine what's deliberate and what's not. Vick has had problems with concussions, so a helmet to helmet hit could be construed as deliberately trying to put out his lights. But often helmets just hit helmets out without any deliberation -- it's a violent sport. And I don't think defenders should be penalized by being forced to sit out an entire year because of it. The NFL is becoming way too wussified. Butkus, Lambert, Lott, and (Deacon) Jones wouldn't have lasted 3 games without being booted out of the league with the way the rules are now constructed.

The old timers played when players where not nearly as big and fast, and they tended to tackle in the proper manner, wrapping up the runner with their arms, instead of launching into them.
