SEPTEMBER 26, 2011 GOP Looks for a Winner in Midwest Swing States Mitt Romney's Perceived Home-Field Advantage Contrasts With Gov. Perry's Record of Job Creation in Texas

MACKINAC ISLAND, Mich.Republican Party officials and activists in Midwestern states say a GOP candidate can reverse President Barack Obama's 2008 victories in the region. But they're still trying to determine who has the best shot.
Mitt Romney, a Michigan native and son of a former Michigan governor, has a home-field advantage and a feel for Midwestern political culture that some party officials say they prefer.
Others say job losses in the region leave an opening for Rick Perry, the Texas governor and Mr. Romney's top opponent, who is campaigning on the basis of strong jobs growth in his state.

Don’t count on the Mackinac Center speaking for Michiganders. There was never any doubt about who they would vote for and myself and plenty of others don’t appreciate candidates stepping over us in an attempt to get to the perceived power brokers.
We’ll choose a candidate who actually comes to spend some time with the folks.

Rubio has said he is not interested, plus may not meet the requirement of “natural born citizen”.
Palin has spoken about the need to spend time in Michigan and Cain sounds like the kind to do so.
Funny thing is, Cain might even be able to pull votes in Detroit with the help of Mayor Bing. Bing is a democrat yes, but he is in no way typical of democrats.

JOSEPH B. WHITE AND NEIL KING, JR. have worked together to try to find the name of ONE Republican who can win, and managed to avoid some of the declared candidates in favor of naming two who aren’t even declared.
