Costco carries 2,000 and 3,000 IU Vit D at a very reasonable price. Reading up on the subject I arrived at taking about 10,000 units two or three times a day. Irregular quantities but at least every night and every morning. No ill effecgs afgter several months and a general improvment.

Also recently diagnosed with low level, half tablet med a day, diabetes. Still learning but am using Nopal (cactus) capsules and have had a drop to normal (under 99) withot h meds and only using the capsules and FRESH (sliced, thorn removed) cactus from a supermarket that has lots of Mexican clients.

Mexican grocery manager, a more serious diabetic, uses the cactus leaves but scrapes the thorns off himself.

He then pops a leaf or two into a blender, with some celery stalks and some parsley and “liquefies” with added water (preferably purified/double filtered/distilled).

The best water can be obtained from a portable distiller unit - about three hours for a gallon (about $150) - several brands on Google. Less expensive units ($99) take about 5-hours to make a gallon.

Anyone interested Freepmail me for the brand I chose and use.

Then lets it breathe (stand), and drink the liquid after removing some of the solid/fibre matter(which is also good for you but less drinkable). He adds a chunk or two of pineapple for taste showing that the Nopal is strong enough to compensate for the sweetness of the pineapple.

Be well!

Sounds yummy, but if you ferment the mixture for a week or two, then distill it, I’m sure you’ll come up with something even more delectable.

Thank you for the ping.

My understanding is that Vitamin D is fat soluble, not water soluble.

Is there any test to determine if you are accumulating too much Vitamin D?

Thanks for the ping on D3.

For those who are fish or soy allergic Twinlab produces dry D3 as well as dry A & D3.

My reading the subject shows possible side effects if you take 10,000 IU’s or more daily. You might want to consult your doctor about such excessive intake. We take 4,000-6000 per day. Have not had a sniffle in a year and no flu shots. D-3 really is an amazing vitamin.
